mysterious smoke at hot idle

started up my car today and cleaned it i have a potential buyer coming in tomorrow.

i started it and it went up to 200 and it started smoking from under the seat, more toward the center console. idk what i did last time it didnt do that. it doesnt smell like anything is burning. this morning i put a thermostat gasket in and a flex hose (which fits perfectly) and thats it..it wasnt a messy job so no antifreeze got on the header wrap or anything.

not really sure where to begin with this can anybody help me out with some ideas?

power seat? Any stereo wires running under there or anything?

I would prolly yank the seat and check everything real well for the source.

yeah the driver seat is a power seat, but its coming more from the center console. if i lift up one of the center console peices u can see the smoke coming in from there but no source. also i saw some coming from one of the defroster vents. i have no idea what this could be and its really pissing me off...could it be anything with the heater core? i swapped hoses out last time i worked on it

did you notice if any smoke is visible underneath the car?

i couldnt get a good look...i wish it wasnt pouring outside i would start it up and take a flashlight to it. in the day it was really hard to see. if i were to guess it would be coming from the exhaust pipes.

there was quite a bit of smoke i might have a video of it, but if it were an exhaust leak would it make smoke like that?

I know when I did my trans and I put my trans fluid covered hands on the exhaust a lot my exhaust was smoking white for at least 10 start ups. Maybe a trans fluid leak? Get her jacked up see whats going on under there.

that could be it. i started it up again today and no smoke at all. ill check when i have time again

i know u sed smoke, but any odor? "smoke" coming out of the AC vents when its really humid is just condensation... as far as smoke coming from the console... is the rubber gromet still around the tranny linkage that runs thru the floor? if not some coolant coulda ran down there and been burning off and smoke just coming up thru that hole

yeah the rubber is still around the tranny linkage. i mean i took it out the other day annd no more smoke...idk what it could have been
