Header problems

I have a 95 Z28 and I put pacesetter mid length headers with the y pipe that comes with them. My collectors keep blowing out and the y pipe is vibating off the bottom of the car. I had a local garage guy install them. Should I go back to factory exhaust manifolds or keep the headers . They have been a constant problem since the install. Does anyone know of someone that can repair my exhaust issues????

Did you use that paper gaskets that came with the kit?

Diiiid you install new motor mounts?

madness410 05-24-2009 12:27 PM

would the motor mounts make the y pipe vibrate though?

LTb1ow 05-24-2009 12:29 PM

Yup, the engine would be moving around and transfer it to the Y pipe.

what if it wasnt giving him problems before with his stock exhaust

Yes, it could as with worn mounts the engine sags lower than it normally would and the exhaust would contact the body in spots it wasn't designed to and anywhere you have contact with either the engine, transmission or exhaust you will see some vibration but he said his is contacting the bottom of the car, which to me means his Y is defective or bent it a way it shouldn't be which doesn't surprise me since how mass produced pacesetter is.

Ok and?

Stock exhaust is well, stock. Mids are a bit bigger and the Y is larger too. So would be safe to assume it would have more clearance issues than stock.

You're blowing out aluminum collector gaskets???? R they "blowing out," or just leaking?
