Liscense and registration...

Had a good day to work on the car so I did.. Dropped the passenger header to delete some pesky heat shielding that had been rattling, and in the process decided to do some cleaning. Deleted what was left of the cruise control and since the tire was off... took the MSD6AL that had been hiding in there and re wired it sooo its no in the glove box. Also mounted my coil finally onto the frame rail where the cruise control was. Good day of work. I have to wrap the wires in conduit where they run up over the passenger side wheel. But it was nice to get things organized.

when i had a 6AL it used to sing alot but never hummed

LTb1ow 05-25-2009 12:16 PM

Eh, it just makes noise, ah well, downside of having it up close and personal.

transmaro93 05-25-2009 12:49 PM

at least if it catches fire youll know early on.... hahah.... "why is the glove box smoking"

Frosty 05-25-2009 11:35 PM

Mine is in the engine bay so I can't hear it...though I didn't think I heard it singing Freebird once.

sweetbmxrider 05-26-2009 07:09 AM

sweeeeeeeeeeet

LTb1ow 05-26-2009 08:45 AM

Yup, easy access to swap RPM limiters now.

madness410 05-26-2009 03:35 PM

it hums? What kind of noise does it make?

LTb1ow 05-26-2009 03:46 PM

Hums, best way to describe it. If the radio is off, you can audibly hear it.

I've heard it before. Kind of like a buzzing noise. I'm not sure if it's normal or not.

LTb1ow 05-26-2009 03:48 PM

Eh, no way to tell I suppose.

transmaro93 05-26-2009 04:02 PM

hit it with a hammer... see if it stops...

sweetbmxrider 05-26-2009 04:05 PM

get a computer fan, you won't hear the hum anymore

not like a whine sort of? almost like a supercharger?

LTb1ow 05-26-2009 04:26 PM

No no. Like an electronic hum. And hitting it with a hammer would be bad, unless you wanna buy me the new digital 6AL.

GP99GT 05-26-2009 05:29 PM

doesnt get too hot in there?

LTb1ow 05-26-2009 05:38 PM

I dunno, hasn't felt hot yet. I will keep an eye on it.

transmaro93 05-26-2009 06:22 PM

My thoughts exactly. MSD techs recommend some form of air flow across it.
