President on all news stations talking about GM

If anyone sees this... the Prez is talking about the future of GM on all the news stations right now... 11:55am... So sad how they started it out... how many people losing their jobs.

Frosty 06-01-2009 12:07 PM

What's more sad is that The Messiah now owns 72.5% of GM. Be prepared for a huge push from our government to make polar bear friendly cars no one wants...

I feel bad for the people that are losing their jobs...definitely sucks :(

NastyEllEssWon 06-01-2009 01:37 PM

burn em to the ground and start over

Iroc-z86 06-01-2009 01:39 PM

well i guess we can say goodbye to the awesome Gm that once was....

and best of luck to all the people who lost their jobs :(

It's going to be interesting to see if any performance cars GM has survive in the "New GM."

Of the surviving brands, all that exists is the Camaro and Vette. I don't see either going away, although i can see the vette growing old before you see a 'C7'. The Camaro will at least last a few years just because it is all new tooling, the plant, etc. It has to sell to get revised though. The CTS-V probably does too.

What's left, the G8? I dunno. The Solstice? DOA.

well IMO the camaro will survive, its on back order like crazy and are selling like hotcakes, why would they axe something that is a hot product and making them money

91DropTop 06-01-2009 03:35 PM

the new "peoples car" hey look how well it worked for hitler

LTb1ow 06-01-2009 03:53 PM

They got an autobahn out of it. ;)

Huzzah!

karr95 06-01-2009 03:55 PM

I thought this was interesting: http://finance.yahoo.com/family-home...d=family-autos

After everything is squared away, I am really curious to see what kind of cars GM and Chrysler are going to roll out.

Frosty 06-01-2009 04:30 PM

It looks like Obama is getting 60% and the UAW is now getting almost 20%...yay

I can't wait to see what yuppie cars GM is going to be forced to make...the cars no one is really buying right now...

Solstice was planned to stop production in the future regardless.

Frosty 06-01-2009 06:23 PM

BTW, I doubt you'll see the G8 in any form. Apparently part of the agreement was a UAW demand that NO import vehicles are to come over(Opel, Holden etc). Sucks..

oh ffs.

bobb1589 06-01-2009 06:36 PM

I don't know guys. I think the government will only hold on to GM for as long as it needs to until it is more stable. I am sure the government does not want to hold on to it, but they also don't want to see a great company die.

Tru2Chevy 06-01-2009 07:33 PM

We'll just have to wait and see. The government has said over and over that they will not dictate who runs the company or what decisions they make as far as what type of cars to build, but it wouldn't be the first time they lied to us.

The Goverment aka Us, own 60% of GM through goverment loans.
What will eventually happen is that when GM comes out of Chap 11, is that if GM can make profitable cars, and the market can maintain 9-10 milion units a year, GM will be able to emerge as a public company again, the goverment will sell its stake over time back onto the market, for a profit im sure.
GM has been making some very good cars over the last 4 years, and now if they can bring the costs down, making a profit, while making both green and fun cars, they will be better off.

i agree 110%

The government is saying the don't want to run things...hopefully that's the case but how many times do politicians say one thing and do the complete opposite? You bet your ass that if GM isn't making $$ as quickly as the administration wants strings WILL be pulled. Remember, they answer to every tax payer out there....at least they're supposed to.

Analysts are saying that it's going to be VERY tough for the government to re-coupe all of that $$$. Time will tell...I hope I'm wrong but I'm definitely on the "this should have never happened" bandwagon. I just hope NoBama backs off and lets GM do their thing and lets them make vehicles people WANT and not what the polar bears approve of.

Mike 06-01-2009 09:24 PM

he is telling the truth......he wont lie to us until he gets re-elected

Frosty 06-01-2009 09:28 PM

It's not about the cars, it's about getting rid of all the trucks/suv's. GM ran itself into the ground with the UAW, pension's and bad decision's. I hope they can get straightened out, trim the fat(or blubber in this case) and be a profitable company again without gov't involvement. They need to hang around for a little while so I can by a used 2010 Camaro SS!

you may not have to wait to get a used one, if they go belly up they will give them away for next to nothing and write it as a loss

They're not going belly up and once the Camaro goes to the dealer the dealer owns the vehicle so they'll still sell it at whatever price they want.
