So I haven't been around for awhile.....

Took my mom to the hospital on Friday cuz I thought she was having another stroke. They did a CT scan and an MRI. They found five tumors in her brain and her liver was full of them......Poor lady.....in 2000 She had breast cancer, 2003 Brain Aneuryism, 2006 Lung Cancer and Bone Cancer and now 2009 Liver Cancer and Brain Cancer.....They've given her less then a year.......didn't wanna bother you guys with this, just needed someone to talk to :(

JL8Jeff 06-11-2009 07:03 AM

Wow, that sucks. Sorry to hear about your mom. Sounds like she's had a tough fight.

CamaroGirlie 06-11-2009 07:13 AM

Yea she has, but she's been a fighter so hopefully she can stretch the time they've given her. The one thing that matters right now is that she's not in any pain.

MonmouthCtyAntz 06-11-2009 07:38 AM

Sorry to hear that...stay strong for your family.

98Gsxr750 06-11-2009 08:42 AM

Sorry to hear that news. She seems like a tough mom though so I am sure she will stretch that year.

Im really sorry to hear about your mother. She must be really tough to go through all of that and beat it, she has a good chance of getting through this as well. Keep Hope, stay strong...8-)

bobb1589 06-13-2009 12:32 PM

Sorry to hear about your mom. It definitely sounds like shes a fighter and just because they gave her less than a year doesn't necessarily mean anything. When my grandfather was diagnosed it was right around thanksgiving and they said he may not make it to christmas. He ended up living 16 months longer than they said he would, so where there is a will there is a way. I wish you and your mom the best.

Jam 06-13-2009 01:17 PM

sorry to hear the news, just pray and everything will turn out fine.

Christi-

Have you tried shakes? Or stuff like Ensure? I think thats what we did with my grandfather when he wasn't feeling up to eating.

They try to give her Ensure, but she shakes so bad she spills it and the nurses at RWJUH are a holes and won't help her, so I try to make sure she drinks at least one a day when I'm there.....but she absolutely loves chocolate milkshakes from Broad Street Diner!!

Cancer

Well I know how you feel my mother was diagnosed with lung cancer 2 years ago. Since then she has slowly gotten worse, she has had radiation, chemo and spent a heck of a lot of time in the hospital. All this time she has felt like crap I can't imagine how tough it is for someone to have to go through this. I'm watching her decline day by day and it rips me apart inside. She pretty much is bed ridden, I just got back back from seeing her, I try to get there 3 to 4 times a week. I'm going to have to try for 6 days, since things are declining so rapidly. Now the cancer is in her liver, groin, right leg, lung and who knows where else. She wasn't eating for awhile but I got her to eat baby food and ensure pudding now she is eating small amounts of solid foods and is starting to get her appetite back. She's kinda out of it most of the time due to the pain meds. Good luck with your Mom, this is not what any child wants see a parent suffering. It's a nightmare I feel for you since I know first hand what your going through. Stay strong.

Joe

My family absolutely HATES RWJUH they are HORRIBLE. They barely take care of their patients and I doubt they care. The best thing we could have done for my grandfather was to do Hospice and have him come him and have a nurse come out and take care of him during the day. He definitely would not have lasted anywhere near as long he did if it wasn't for us taking him out of the hospital and brought him home. Maybe this could be an option for your mom?

CamaroGirlie 06-15-2009 10:00 PM

Yea Joe its absolutely horrible, they did a lobectomy on my mom in 07 and then the cancer just spread everywhere. Good luck with your mom though, cuz I know exactly how you feel. Yea Bob, that hospital is ridiculous. The last time we were at Princeton, ehich is where I should have taken her this time. But when she does come home, there is gonna be a nurse that comes out every 2 days to help her, which will be good for both of us.

BigAls87Z28 06-15-2009 10:18 PM

Christi Im so sorry to hear this hun. Ill pray for your mother and for you as well. Its good that she is not feeling any pain, I hope that it remains that way. I think everyone here has had a family member with some sort of cancer. I wish all the best for your mother and family hun.

CamaroGirlie 06-20-2009 09:43 PM

My mom came home on Tuesday, was doing good till Friday. Friday afternoon they stopped her cancer treatment and put her in in home hospice. Today she woke up in severe pain and was unable to speak or swallow....she is currently having difficulty breathing and isn't able to swallow her medicines to take away the pain :( The doctor said is not going to be much longer :(

Frosty 06-20-2009 10:11 PM
