not another collector insurance thread!

lol, first off i searched the forums and read through all the threads, but none really answered what im looking for

Is there a collectors insurance which allows an 18yr old to be a secondary driver? my dad would be the policy holder and the car is now 25 years old. we currently have American Collectors but you need 10 years of driving experience..

thanks

Hagerty
My dad "own" my grand national, I'm listed as the 2nd driver. I've had that insurance on it since I was 19. Neither you or your dad can have any moving vehicle violations.

They will deny coverage if you are driving and get in an accident.

My dad and I are listed as drivers on it, so how would it not be covered?
It even says in the paper work the only people allowed to drive the Vehicle are him and I anybody else will not be covered. When we signed up for it they asked who will be driving the car as both my dad and I were given to them.
I'll even scan it and post it up.

I asked Hagerty about this back in January because I knew it would come up on here. They told me point blank that if a person under 25 is driving the car then they will not cover the damage. I may have gotten bad info from the operator but that's what they told me. Are they aware of your age?

Yes they are. They even have a copy of my Driver's license and I've been on the policy since 2005.

No, but it may be insurance points - which are different form NJDMV points.

My suggestion is to get on the phone and start making phone calls to insurance companies. Then you'll get soild answers.

all accidents in jersey are deemed no-fault. thats why our insurance is so high.

I think you got some bad information because i have the policy as well and made sure to make it a point that they knew and they said i am covered.

For injury purposes, yes. But for liability, damage, etc, the person at fault (as deemed in the police report) is responsible. It should NOT be held against you to have an accident if you were not at fault.
