trans id + need a clutch
 
71 firebird that came with a 3speed. before I pu the trans back in i want to put in a new clutch. These are the casting i was able to pull of the trans, can anyone tell me what i have.

also i have never dealt with a manual trans nor buying a clutch. if anyone can point me in the right direction i would really appreciate it.

I don't know which it is but it should be either a Muncie M12 or M13.

Dr Google tells me 3925647 is a Saginaw 3-Spd

A stock replacement clutch is probably fine. I see Delco kits around $110. Looks like there are some variations so I hope you still have your old stuff.

should be but its not, upgrade sometime in the future but for now it will do just fine.

thanks. and the what should i look at from my old clutch to make sur ei get the correct one. It was just a plate and two disks, what should i measure. Sorry if these questions seem really basic info to u guys but i have never dealt with clutches so im trying to learn somethings from scratch.

I'm not 100% sure the difference between Raised Diaphragm and Flat Diaphragm. Someone smarter then I in these things will probably pipe in. Maybe Josh.

Buy it local, maybe at your local Napa, that way if it is wrong returning it is easier.

Im just gona go up to napa on saturday and bring my old one like u said. engine is out of a 73 (400) trany is from who know when or where, but is a saginaw 3 speed. hopefully they can match it up. thanks for the help

If it has all 3 "tabs" on the side cover then it's a Saginaw.
