car pulls to the left when i brake

ok this only happens over 50 and i touch the brakes lightly... any ideas??
-tires are good
-alignment seems fine
...im guessing caliper...

btownws6 07-10-2009 08:34 PM

yup my car used to do that and all i did was change the brakes out and it was fine

1986IROCZ28 07-10-2009 08:37 PM

sounds like one of your calipers arent working right you might wanna check the side that isnt pulling

JSPERFORMANCE 07-10-2009 09:22 PM

could also be a bad brake hose

procamaroz28 07-11-2009 01:49 AM

hmm. ok... thanks guys...
im gonna check the lines in the morning and since my car has been sitting outside for a bit im gonna drive it for a couple more days before i swap out the caliper hopefully some how it will engage better with a lil more use...

sweetbmxrider 07-11-2009 10:13 AM

look at the pads. see if an inner or outer is worn more than the others.

dmheer08 07-11-2009 10:32 AM

same thing was happening to me when i first bought my car back in 06'. i would hit the brake and be in the left lane. it was my lines and calipers

V 07-12-2009 08:34 AM

my 88 gta, same issue. this was in like '99(77k miles) .... the rubber lines degrade over time and swell with the pressure of the brake fluid. the side it does not pull to is the side with the swollen hose i'd bet, just change both front rubber lines, bleed and id bet ur good to go, and just since ur in there, u could change pads too if i wish.

BonzoHansen 07-12-2009 09:15 AM

it's a hose. replace the pair, always do hydraulics in pairs.

BigAls87Z28 07-12-2009 06:31 PM

Its a hydraulic problem, obv.
Its almost cheap enough to replace calipers/hoses on the front.

CamaroJoe1987 07-16-2009 12:54 AM

same probelm wen i got my 87, always pulled to the left, so i changed out the callipers and hoses, cheap easy fix

crainholio 07-20-2009 04:11 PM

It's a good opportunity to upgrade to stainless steel/Teflon brake lines while you're at it. I avoid Russell pieces, they look shoddy at the end crimps. Earls have been doing great on mine.

procamaroz28 07-20-2009 05:56 PM

umm actually it fixed itself it doesnt happen any more... thats strange...

MyFirstZ 07-20-2009 09:13 PM

wel if its like the bmw that came in to my shop today make sure you dont have a pair of needle nose vice grips on the brake hose. haha

S.J.SLEEPER 07-20-2009 09:16 PM

do yourself a favor..... open your wallet and purchase 2 new brake lines and install the friggin things

JSPERFORMANCE 07-20-2009 09:21 PM

Brake problems do not fix themselves.. If you are unsure how to diagnose the problem, take the car to a professional. Brakes are not something to take lightly or cheap out on..
