drive without tune?

ok guys i just wanted to know if it would be ok for me to drive my car around on the stock tune since i swapped the lq9 into my car along with long tubes, catted y. fast intake and 92mm tb. i dont plan on getting on it without the tune so it would basically just be normal driving and doing the speed limit if not maybe even slower.

to be safe, id have someone do a startup tune or something conservative to get you by. if u dont mind me asking, why arent u getting it tuned right away? Whenever the time comes, get yourself a Chummmma tune!!

emolineaux 08-08-2009 02:50 PM

well i am getting it tuned. but i was wondering if it was safe for me to drive it before the tune got done.

also i just noticed that im getting a slight klunking noise when im in reverse. when i put it into first i think i got it a little but not as bad. it didnt do it before i tore the car apart. i installed a umi torqe arm relocation crossmember im not sure if i have it set it the wrong spot throwing off the pinion angle a little.

If your using the same injectors as before you should be ok to drive it to dyno to get it tuned. Its mostly gonna be leans since you went up in cubes and added alot more intake and exhaust. Its probably gonna ilde like poo until its tuned.

the actually idles great. sits at like 1k rpms when not in gear. but yea ill probably hold off driving it until the tune is taken care of.

do you have an adjustable TA? If you do that's probably the clunk. It could possilbly be urathan TA bushing also if you used urathane.

emolineaux 08-08-2009 08:21 PM

yea i was a "ratard" when i had the car up in the air i put the torque arm bolts in the rear so it would hold it in place when i put the torque arm into the new crossmember, but i forgot to put the nuts on the end of the bolts. tightend them up and damn that solved that problem lol.

just wanted to fire it up so i figured i would do those last and yea i forgot about them lol
