UFC 101....

pretty crappy..anyone else see forrest take a dive? something just wasnt right with that fight at all..

cdacda13 08-09-2009 12:43 AM

Just got home from watching it.

Disappointing is an understatement.
The first two fights were solid, nothing special. Both Jersey boys won.
The Hendricks' fight was a bad call.
Silva was DESTROYING forrest. Then, he just quit. Its like he forgot to show up to the fight.
BJ Penn's fight wasn't special. The first 3 rounds weren't that good. Then round 4 was when it everything clicked for him.

Overall, not as good as UFC 100.

stoney2677 08-10-2009 12:10 PM

its been comfirmed. forrest suffered an dislocated jaw and went to the hospital that night. he ran out because he knew he needed immediate attention. i actually thought the fight looked funny too but he was really hurt. just not the same guy who finished a fight with a broken arm all those years ago.

Squirrel 08-10-2009 08:41 PM

eh... was a pretty weak event, im kinda sad i went thru the trouble to find a stream

Yeah he is a super tough dude and he got knocked down by a jab. He had something wrong with him. I could have beat him that night edit: just read that post about the jaw

UFC 100 was one of the best ones in my recent UFC watching stint. 93 was really good as well. I am a huge fan of marcus davis, Dan henderson(been watching him since i was 10 or so), lyoto machida(before he became champ) and a few others who have been putting on really good shows recently. So cool for me!

Frosty 08-11-2009 05:33 AM

I'm still pissed Griffin lost like that.

Yeah, overall it wasn't that good of a show...another wasted $45 lol

MonmouthCtyAntz 08-11-2009 08:33 AM

Not sure what event you were watching but the last 2 fights were good...and forrest definately did not take a dive...silvas just that good.

mc73nova 08-11-2009 08:52 AM

Forrest got injured early and pretty much started swinging for the fences to try and end it quick and when he got hit, he used it as a way out because his jaw was dislocated and he could not hear out of the one side. I was disappointed, I am a huge Forrest fan. You cant deny Silva's talent, but I cant stand how he acts in the octagon. He was taunting Forrest, does he forget his last two fights were not that good. Anyway, not every event is going to have a KO or a blood fest. Some are better than others and I will continue to watch every one, I love it. MY $.02

now apparantly the story is that forrest was not hurt on sherdog.com and that he was simply outclassed and frustrated. so who the hell knows for sure at this point.

well something definitely seemed wrong with him. He is a tough guy with a lot of heart he wouldnt just give up like that. I mean i cant say for sure but he may have also had a previous injury. Those guys train hard and pulled muscles/broken bones/sprains are very common, so who knows

r0nin89 08-11-2009 10:13 PM

Ughh I thought the official report was that his jaw was dislocated and he was aware he need immediate medical health?

Yeah but the reason they put forrest against anderson silva was to have him fight someone with a lot of heart and a good chin that would just keep going so he would have to work hard to win. Thats how he does in all his fights...he just didnt pull it off this time lol

NastyEllEssWon 08-13-2009 01:24 PM

ill tell you what happened. i watched the replays over and over.

he got caught with like 2 nice chin shots right before he gave up. it seems after that third one he realized he was outclassed and gave it up. watch the closeups before he leaves he's tonguing the hell out of his cheek but his jaw doesnt look dislocated at all.

Thats exactly what it was...

Frosty 08-14-2009 10:26 PM

He didn't give up...have you ever been rocked in the jaw a few times? No matter how quick you think you can recover you're still hurting...especially if it rocks a few nerves behind the jaw.

BTW, it was confirmed he had a severely dislocated jaw....not fun.

I knew he didnt just quit out because he was frustrated. If he was like that he never would have made it as far as he did. And yeah getting punched in the jaw or back of the head is def no fun at all...its 100x worse if you dont see it coming too

Yea that it what happened, yea he was so rocked that he just got up and sprinted out of the arena lol. He knew w/ his skill set he couldnt compete..and for your info fighters have continued bouts w/ worse injuries then a dislocated jaw.

Frosty 08-16-2009 05:26 PM

"For my info"? Ok wise ass  I realize that, I've been watching UFC for years...he's been injured worse and fought through it...the fact is he was in trouble. He sprinted out because he was in trouble...not because he was out classed.."for your info" he's a classy guy and shows respect to his opponents. He ran out due to his injury.

yeah, like when faber broke both his hands and he still went the distance against brown

Yea there has been some skepticism about that....supposedly he broke his hands in both fights but he didnt go the distance in the 1st meeting...

MonmouthCtyAntz 08-16-2009 05:52 PM

No ones being a wise ass...thats nice that you have been watching for years but that proves nothing in this case...I use to rent the VHS's in hs 17 years ago...but that doesnt prove anything either....mma is the only sport I care about and there isnt much i dont know about it ;) . My knowledge stems from the early pancrase days, along w/ pride and ufc's.

So have you ever gotten your jaw rocked so hard it broke or dislocated? I highly doubt you have, the fact is he was hurt and hurt bad. If you claim to watch as much as you do then you know Griffin is a stand up guy and wouldn't just run out of the ring because he got beat...he ran out for a specific and legitimate reason.
