okay well it still runs but after a 5 minute drive it was down almost a gallon of coolant and the oil is way overfull and milky. yayyyyyy head gaskets whos got an LS1/T56 they wanna sell? |
Replace head gaskets and larger pulley, cheaper than LS1 swap no? |
rings are worn out....theres been a ton of blowby since i got it back. like, smoking from the breathers at idle type of blowby. maybe not going with an LS1, but it definitely needs a new motor/rebuilt. |
I thought mustang motors were built for boost from the factory? |
forged pistons from the factory, yes...rings that last forever, not quite |
Bahaha I was being sarcastic, every single mustang guy explains to me that their motors are built for boost... silly Ford guys.. |

Nope, good ole cast hypereutectic pistons. But I also didn't throw a blower on it. Yet. :) |
how about a 5.8L swap? does that work? |
My next door neighbor has a wagon with a EFI 5.0 in it - same setup as in the mustang. It was his DD until early this year when the brake lines rotted and he decided it ain't worth the effort. Starts & runs. I bet he'd part with it for a few hundred bucks if you want to come get it and rebuild that one. I can ask if you want. |
