FlyingDutchman 08-13-2009 09:07 PM

camaro2you 08-13-2009 09:11 PM

Do not look for parts yourself make whoever is doing the work get all of your parts and charge her for it all.

chrisfrom nj 08-13-2009 09:24 PM

thats sucks thats you got rear ended i have the back bumper and a set or tail lights if your intrested

V 08-13-2009 11:12 PM

ebay has all types of emblems. i got the 5.7 tuned port injection emblem for my 88 Monte SS that way.

but like they said, make them deal with fixing it all.

If you wanna wait till sept, i'll have the rear absorber ill give ya.... but still make em pay lol.

I had that happen to me when driving my friend's ranger. It was the day after my pickup just got smashed up too.

nj85z28 08-14-2009 01:25 PM

gotta love it! similar thing happened to me in my ill fated GTP waiting at a light at 530 am on my way to work.

19iroc88 08-14-2009 06:59 PM

i dont wanna get the price up so high that she decides to go through insurance, cause then my insurance will go up and i already have too many points i just wanna get some things fixed not woried about the paint cause the rest of my car is faded and the bumper wouldnt match if it was resprayed, im just gonna get quotes and charge her for the stuff and the labor and do it myself, and put the rest toward paint

chris i may be interested in the tails i already have a bumper,,, how much you askin?

All insurance on a second accident usually...

Yes its retarded. I've been in two accidents in my life, neither of with were my fault AT ALL. The first accident someone almost rear ended me and swurved to try and stop in the shoulder/parking lot at the same time I pulled into said parking lot... Basically got rear ended in the front fender. My insurance told me that I would be given a curtsy that my rates wouldnt go up after being involved in a collision.

Second accident was in my Monte SS driving through the parking lot at school. Long story short dumb bitch backs out without looking right into my door/quarter. My insurance went up like $50 a year or something like that even thought both accidents were written in police reports and were 100% the other persons fault.

They try to justify it by saying that a more experienced drive could have would have been more alert and aware and avoided a crash, whether it was your fault or not. Its bull ****.

Tell ya know thing. I'll never leave the scene of an accident where its the other persons fault without a police report. You realize when this lady flakes out on paying and you have to go through her insurance the first thing they are gonna grill you on is why isnt there a police report? Then they are gonna use it to their advantage to try and find some way to not completely pay for it. They are scumbags and its their job.

Just because it happened to you doesn't mean all insurance companies do that. State Farm doesn't. Geico doesn't. I don't think Allstate does.

If they decide to go through insurance there isn't a snowball's chance in hell he'll get NOS parts...LKQ or aftermarket parts only unless he wants to pay out of pocket for the difference.

19iroc88-If you have time to pop the bumper off then do so. If you're expecting this lady to pay out of pocket for the repairs then you need to get all of the costs up front or else she's going to think something is fishy, especially if you're planning on doing the repairs yourself.

Do you have any pics of the damage?

lol, the sarcasm flew right over my head. Some people think they're entitled to them though, it's kind of funny.

I wouldn't settle for anthing less when my wife's Trailblazer was side swiped at 6 months old. The bodyshop owner was shocked I got the insurance co. to spring for genuine GM parts.

Frosty 08-16-2009 05:06 PM

If you put up a fight on a newer vehicle some might cave in....but for a 3rdgen...you'll get laughed at.

In reality the insurance company doesn't have to give you OEM parts, especially if you're the claimant. They're responsible to bring your vehicle back to pre-loss condition and aftermarket parts are acceptable.

With that said most suck ass, fitment blows and it takes more time for us to get them to fit...but that's how the industry works.

ted gerlach 08-18-2009 05:35 AM

i have a rear bumper reinforcement with the mesh on it asking $50and a pair of taillights also asking $50 if interested
