District 9

All I have to say is that it was a great movie.Different twist to the whole alien invasion cliche that has been around for years.
Very happy to see an original come out and not a remake, sequel, book, video game.

clitch = cliche? glad to hear it. It looked pretty original in the previews. I'm looking forward to seeing it

This movie kind of snuck up out of no where, hiding behind all the big mega-blockbusters this summer.

Yeah it was a low budget movie(30million).
The directors where the ones that where doing the halo movie until it was cancled.

did it have a decent story line to it? movies these days are all about special effects and all that crap, id rather see a movie that makes sense and is realistic than have most of it rely on special effects

BigAls87Z28 08-16-2009 01:47 PM

There seems to be a very good story behind it, tying in a lot of history, both world and local (to South Africa) history. Lots of relation with the treatment of the Aliens compared with the Apartheid, US Japanese Internment camps, and other oppression of one race, religion and in this case, species by another.

The director actually made a small Indie film a few years ago that started this film. The director is from South Africa, and grew up in the Apartheid era, saw it first hand.

i saw it at the drive in movie theater the other day.....I thought it was terrible. Just my 2 cents.

Saitin 08-16-2009 05:48 PM

If all you want a special effect action packed movie then it is not for you.

I saw it today and I will say that I enjoyed it. Different kind of movie but I didn't expect the story to go the way it went based off the trailers you see on tv. Regardless, I still thought it had a different twist and an interesting scenario. Started off slow but picked up pretty well midway.
