Fuel pump install

Figured since I got the new pump I would throw it in there...

And wow... doing it the right way sucks. :-x

The damn filler neck was always caught on something or other.

Took me an hour to drop the tank on the ground by myself... not bad, but damn...

Beer break, pump install and then back up in there...

Looking good!
I remember the first time I dropped the tank on my GN I just cut all the hoses, to find out those hoses were 5.00 a foot.
So much easier on a 56 Buick to drop a tank.

Im still waiting for mine to show up.

Knipps 08-27-2009 04:01 PM

I don't think it had to come all the way out to do the swap...

Old one out, new one in. Procrastinating putting the tank back up...

LTb1ow 08-27-2009 05:23 PM

Not bad, one hour to drop tank, 15 minutes to swap pumps, bout an hour to re install.. I have been going really slow... lol

Blacdout96 08-27-2009 05:45 PM

Good, you had me nervous when I read the first part!

LTb1ow 08-27-2009 06:31 PM

Yea, one word of advice, the straps that hold the tank up... when you take em off, be gentle and do not bend them at all. What a pain in the ass they were... ah well.

Car runs. No leaks. Success.

Blackbirdws6 08-27-2009 09:03 PM

Ready for the big shot now?

LTb1ow 08-27-2009 11:11 PM

Give it some time. I wanna make sure this is correctly setup before I go spraying it.

Does any one else who run a walbro notice it being significantly louder than stock pump?

Dont have a Walbro but I'm sure your's will sound quiet after you sit in my Nova! You dont need a lit switch to tell you its on!

sweetbmxrider 08-28-2009 07:17 AM

nice wheels chocks

so you didn't have to drop the axle to clear the tank?

LTb1ow 08-28-2009 09:25 AM

Nope, just as low as it sits when it hangs. Hard part was getting the body up high enough.

LOL. Some pumps are like that. I put a Holley Blue on my bro's Chevelle and it sounds like a large swarm of REALLY pissed off bees.

sweetbmxrider 08-28-2009 10:36 AM

freakin baddest bill's is louder than some 4 banger honda's running

LTb1ow 08-28-2009 10:49 AM

Alright, cause mine growls when you prime it with the key before ignition. So far so good... gonna take some time to get back to trusting the float though... LOL

1/4 tank was like 3 gallons....

sweetbmxrider 08-28-2009 10:58 AM

yeah its known that they are way off. full tank mark is like 3/4 tank. i'm going to try and fill my tank up, then put the needle at the full mark. see how that goes

LTb1ow 08-28-2009 11:05 AM

LOL.... wouldn't advise it if you plan on installing a fuel pump anytime soon....
