AC recharge
 

Ok so my AC needs to be recharged. I found out about this HC12A stuff. Anyone here about this are even use it. I dont like how its propane and illegal. Idk just trying to learn about this stuff?????

why cant u use r134a. its like 12bucks a can at any auto parts store

I got a case of R134 for $35 at sams club

im gonna go buy the R134a at walmart... i guess im just interested to learn more about this stuff. Esp. for a project i have for a car that requires R-12

You can't just put 134 into an R12 system, there are some steps required. Poke around the web a bit.

Is this for your 4th gen? Huh, I thought all 4th gens had 134. I guess I just assumed.

How do you know it needs recharging?

ill be more clear... my 4th gen needs a recharge. It Blows room temperature air now and seems its blowing warmers as times goes on. This car needs 134a which I can get at walmart. Im also restoring 79 camaro that needs R12. I found the HC12A online with claims it can be used to replace r12 or r134a. Just trying to get more info on it.

There are some good AC sites out there. But AFAIK so far, for the 79 you will need an r134 conversion kit that will give you new valves as they are different so you don't mix refrigerants. You should replace the drier tank & orifice tube as well (I get a bit lost as the 2nd gens changed over the years but I believe there is an orifice tube in that). And all the lines, evap & condenser need to be flushed to get the R12 oil out and R134 needs different oil. I'll know better next year when I do my truck.

they probably came out with the hc12 because it probab ly has similiar chemical characteristics as r12 because r12 isnt manufactured anymore the only way you can get it is from places that still have it laying around.

i have seen alot when you convert over to a r134 refridgerant from r12 it tends to be followed up by the compressor taking a ****. probably just a coincidence

We have R12 in stock and are fully accredited to service A/C systems which is required by law for anyone handeling CFC's and HFC's.
