lol funny trooper I ran into today

ok so I'm driving to Howell to check out the camaro I'm interested on the parkway. on the side of the road I see two troopers just doing nothing..I drive past them and just glance over. I see one trooper look at the other one and nod his head so I'm like ok what's wrong with my car. one car pulls out and chases me.

so I get pulled over I'm nice and honest (always am to leo's) he tells me he saw me on a cell phone. so inside I'm lol'ing because I know I haven't been on my phone since I last left school..25 minutes earlier. my call log on my hone even shows that. he gave me a ticket. the funny thing is I remember biting my nails before passing the troopers. no choice but to pay a fine for biting my nails...disgusting habit I know lol

SamhainZ28 09-10-2009 02:47 PM

umm fight it, thats BS dude

FlyingDutchman 09-10-2009 02:49 PM

wait.. you got a ticket or not ?

print out your cell phone history from your provider and fight it lol

BonzoHansen 09-10-2009 02:52 PM

If you got a ticket and you really were not talking or texting you should be able to get records from your carrier and try to fight it in court. I'm not sure if 'I saw him holding/reading it' will hold water in court.

He did.

baddest434 09-10-2009 03:02 PM

i'd fight that ticket! maybe you should'nt have glanced over at them

madness410 09-10-2009 03:34 PM

I did get a ticket the only evidence he has is that him and another trooper 'saw' me with my hand near my head. I wasn't on my phone

Frosty 09-10-2009 03:38 PM

Then pull your phone record and go to court...that's BS.

What he said. Sounds like BS to me.

sweetbmxrider 09-10-2009 03:39 PM

if you have the time to, i'd fight it for fun. you can pretty easily throw it in their face too with your call log. let them say that you had your phone to your ear. then clarify that they are saying you were actually talking on your phone and not texting or something. show call from way before stop and voilla you get to  out the door

i wish i had a self phone :(

Scrat's_Camaro 09-10-2009 03:41 PM

um yeah dude i would fight it cause i believe you get points for that now

madness410 09-10-2009 03:44 PM

trooper said it's a no point violation just a fine unless there are different codes for handheld devices

Blacdout96 09-10-2009 03:45 PM

Not fightingthat would be dumb. no need to pay an unecessay fine. did you show the trooper your phone and it's call log? I would of, and if he still said I don't believe you, I would say fine, In court my carrier will make you say differently when I get the records.

understand that you're already takign time out of your life to go to the courthouse, you already have to pay court fees, so take some of your time to show how wrong they are by having the carrier history, otherwise it was a complete waste of time and money.

LTb1ow 09-10-2009 03:46 PM

Unless you like throwing away money... fight that BS...

79CamaroDiva 09-10-2009 03:54 PM

does it cost more than taking a day off of work?

madness410 09-10-2009 03:58 PM

not sure yet he said it's just a fine. I'll let u know when it gets processed in the computer

8hnpSS 09-10-2009 04:15 PM

funny something just like this happened to me today. i have a remote for my radio and as i was changing the song i happen to drive past a leo on the side of the road. long story short he folowed me all the way to my house but didnt pull me over. and the way i hold it makes it look just like a phone so i knew why he was folowing me

edit - im pretty sure its a no points ticket just a fine my mom got one last year she didnt get points

Miles 09-10-2009 04:23 PM

momma always told me not to bite my nails!:nod:

but yeah, i would fight that...

but its still an injustice, how many other people have gotten similar tickets and thought the same thing ? i would fight it just for the satisfaction of making the cop look like an idiot for "seeing" something

Quote:

Payment for cell phone tickets is $130 in fines and court costs. . .
Drivers who wish to plead "not guilty" must appear in court. The judge will hear the case and, for drivers who are found guilty, the judge will impose a fine within the statutory range. For driving while using a hand-held cell phone, fines range between $100 and $250
Source: NJCOURTSONLINE
100$ + is near a days wages . . .

EDIT: minimum seems to be $130 + online fees if you go that route

Saitin 09-10-2009 05:25 PM

almost all those cell phone tickets get thrown out in court, go in with your PRINTED call records and you'll be out in 20 mins and make the cop look like that azz clown he is.

I've had 3 of those tickets in the past 2 months and all 3 got thrown out just cops being dicks and hoping you won't go to court.

79T/A 09-10-2009 07:21 PM

Yeah, I gotta agree. I can see how the trooper could've mistaken any sort of motioning to the face or head as being on a cell phone, but I'd still fight it. No chance you had the phone in your hand (Not sarcasm, I mean actually in your hand but closed) while you were biting your nails, is there?

NastyEllEssWon 09-10-2009 09:35 PM

lol ive gotten a ticket for talking on a cellphone while driving......which is funny....because i dont own a cell phone  get it tossed out

MyFirstZ 09-10-2009 09:42 PM
