What happens when the flywheel lets go on a 557 ci., Kaase headed BOSS motor. bellhousing was sfi certified but the fly wheel was not the bellhousing didn't contain the flywheel when it let go because the bolt holes in the block broke.

Yeah well with no SFI bellhousing if it was in a car I would definitely have no legs. I bet it would have done a lot more damage if it had not been slowed down by the bell and block.

LTb1ow 09-15-2009 11:17 AM

No doubt, someone was saying last night, I think Justin, that what if that had been an LS1... ouch... aluminum ftl.

IDK bout you, but my block is iron... LS1's are aluminum... that woulda gone right through it like butter...

There is a steel block plate in between the bell and block, so it would have really just been a little easier for it to pull the bolts out of the block. It wouldnt really have been able to cut the block up. Same thing woulda happened like the one pictured

LTb1ow 09-15-2009 11:40 AM

Ah ok.

PolarBear 09-15-2009 11:42 AM

you can see the block plate in those pictures too, the people who thought up the SFI cert kinda knew what they were doing

LTb1ow 09-15-2009 11:43 AM

IDK manual things...

I just worry about my converter exploding in a blast of fins and hot tranny fluid... LOL

PolarBear 09-15-2009 11:44 AM

I think that is why they make a scattersheild for autos, basically protects the passenger like the manual one.
I may be wrong though
