Sagging Headliner Cloth....

Well the whole passenger side cloth is sagging and im getting tired of tucking it up everyday lol...How do you guys fix this?

LTb1ow 09-30-2009 09:41 AM

Brought it to a shop, had it re done.

alamantia 09-30-2009 12:23 PM

I used to work at a print shop where we used 3M spray glue to glue paper together to drag it thru the web press. At about the same time I had a 1985 Monte Carlo SS with the same problem you have. I was able to peal the head liner down enough to scrape some of the dried up glue out from in between the material and the foam board. a couple shots of spray glue and a credit card to smooth it out was able to stick it back up, a few months later it came back down again. I just did this every few months because it was better than seeing staples. The only way to do it right is to have it redone. JC Whittney sells kits but it looks painful

Pampered-Z 09-30-2009 12:29 PM

Their pretty much a PITA to fix yourself and most often don't last. Take it to a shop and they will recover it for about $100. maybe a few bucks cheaper if you take it out yourself. I use a place called Wilson's near Oxford Valley mall in PA. They do nice work, I had the headliner and visors redone for $125 a few years back.

MonmouthCtyAntz 09-30-2009 12:56 PM

Yea I dont wanna staple it...and I have better places right now to spend a 100 bucks on the car....guess ill just keep tucking it up until my planned mods for the car are finished and some car budget $ free's up.

WildBillyT 09-30-2009 01:20 PM

Maybe get a syringe filled with glue and shoot it up underneath?

BonzoHansen 09-30-2009 01:46 PM

Watch the classifieds for a used one. They go ~$100 all the time

Stevoone 09-30-2009 02:15 PM

If your going to shop around for prices to get it redone try Classic Auto Upholstery 416 Island Rd Columbus, NJ 08022 (609) 324-7800. I've sent a few friends over there as well as Cadillac customers and he has done really nice work every time. He used to have a shop in Burlington Twp but now he works out of his garage.

u had the smae problem on my car. someone on here recomended this.put a small hole in the part that sags and take 3M headliner adhesive with a little straw thing in the nozzle and spray it around and press it back on. its hard to prevent wrinkles but it worked well for me

thats exactly what i was going to suggest except for the love of god dont use 3m. 3m loses its hold after awhile especially if your car sits in the sun all day.

MonmouthCtyAntz 10-01-2009 06:39 AM

i bought fabric and spray glue from a online distributor for about 40 bucks, and recovered my own.....even got to change it to black while i was at it

Theres nothing wrong w/ the fabric, it just need to be reattached..

LTb1ow 10-01-2009 10:29 AM

So re attach it?

Its just not gonna last or look as good as it would if you had a shop do it. IMO of course.

Best bet is have someone help you. Even tho its a small headliner(or are you a hardtop?) The someone else is to streach it out.

LTb1ow 10-01-2009 01:06 PM

Yea i bet, that 100 bucks is going to the next round of mods though. Not overly concerned w/ the interior, the sagging is getting annoying though.

sweetbmxrider 10-01-2009 02:03 PM

take the headliner out. address it when you have the spare cash/time. hardtops look pretty cool with no headliner. i wanna try doing a ttop headliner in my buddy's hardtop.
