Apparently not :( Bye bye Saturn...sucks...they were starting to get nice too.

That really stinks....I wonder what the timeline is for killing them off?

eh, not a problem for those of us who are planning on driving our cars into the ground.

I think it was generally understood that this was going to happen. Penske was never going to produce cars, and was the General really going to continue selling Penske cars to re manufacture? seems silly right? No one was going to sell Saturn their cars. It was a deal to help Saturn rid the cars they had on the lots. That is the only explanation that makes sense.

whats gonna happen to my warranty? is gm going to continue to support the saturn warranties they sold before it tanked?

Knipps 10-01-2009 07:04 PM

yes, much like the pontiac warranties

I love my saturn. I have an Outlook 46,000 miles to date and no issues. Its a great SUV and rented several saturns also I though they were alot of fun to drive. This is a shame also.

They really did a great job at revamping the line up, giving it by far teh freshest line up in GM, more then anyone.
Problem is that it was about 5-6 years too late. Letting the SL languish without updates while its import competition, the ones that Saturn was supposed to fight, moved much faster.

Saturn warranties will be honored at any certified GM dealer once the Saturn dealerships close. This was a big deal for me since I just had the SKY get the Stage II upgrade.

Penske was planning on having GM manufacture the cars for X number of years, and they were talking to another company about picking up the manufacturing once GM was done. The talks with this other company fell through, so Penske backed out of the whole thing, and GM apparently isn't interested, or just doesn't have the time / resources to try to find another interested buyer for the company. I suspect the latter.
