Lexus LF-A: A $400,000 Joke?

Is Toyota serious?
Yes, the stats are there. High revving V10 engine, big booming power, sub 4 sec 0-60, tons of tuning, words like carbon fiber, ceramic, titanium all flow through the articles...
BUT FOR FOUR HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS?
They are only making 500 of them. Lets just hope that they fix this whole sudden accleration thing before one of these things starts flying down the street, out of control!!
It sounds good, I will say that. Its design on the other hand...yikes.
Like a GT-R had babies with a 911 and Ferrari 599.
$400k, Lexus you sure know how to really get crazy.

it looks like an NSX and a supra had babies...and then the babies had babies with each other and that thing is the result....the culmination of tacky ricer and import lust for euro trash styling. its got the ass of a GT-90 the front end of an NSX the hood of a supra, the roof/doors from a 370Z. this is the Japanese version of a high budget junkyard build. I'd rather buy a ZR-1 and a house

sweetbmxrider 10-21-2009 07:40 AM

one of the sickest cars i've seen in a while! i love it!!

iroc86NJ 10-21-2009 08:02 AM

I'm not sure they have the price set yet. Every article I've read has had a different price C&D 250K, MT 170K, R&T 200K and now i see on the internet that it ranges form 170-500k?

The car doesn't look terrible but it's not worth more then 200K.

It looks like Toyota is trying to pull off the Ferrari/Mclaren model by having a high end production road car fund their F1 development budget. Maybe Toyota should have called Ferdinand Piëch to see how his Veyron experiment was going before they started their supercar program. FYI: the Veyron is gonna end up costing VW money instead of making it.

Meh. I think most people would rather have a ZR1 or GTR for much less money. This thing doesn't appear to perform better than either one of them.

miketa95 10-21-2009 08:25 AM

I hate toyota, but I actually think this car is pretty cool looking. Hate the way it sounds though, and 400k? certainly doesnt look like a car that should be worth any more than 80 or 90 thousand.

IMO, just about every V10 sounds like crap. With the exception of the 10,000+ RPM race motors out there.

People who can afford a 400k Lexus can also afford all those cars you mentioned, and some extra lunch money on the side. So no choice is necessary for them.

Many people with that type of money did not get it by making poor choices. People will buy it because it's a Lexus sports car, not for its performance. Similar to the NSX, but more $.

blueshark123 10-21-2009 10:10 AM

Way over priced but let's see what they decide to price it when it comes out.

I have. And I did not think it was really that great sounding. Personally I like V8s and short stroke V12s.

I agree, but stock out of the box that v10 exhaust note sounds amazing.

There will be only 500 of them made, and I'm sure over half of those will end up in the Middle East where people have more money than taste, the rest will end up in some warehouse where they will never be driven...

And not every well of person makes smart decisions. I can show you plenty of EXPENSIVE cars done in poor taste, for one you can look up Mansory and their creations or you can just look at this one.

no whale penis leather? awwww man

Blacdout96 10-21-2009 11:54 AM

Hey, Toyota has to make back there money somehow from their horrible F1 attempt

seriously, this car was supposed o come out to commemorate Toyota's first F1 win.....but since it never happened, they changed the reason for bringing it out. anybody who buys this car is a bigger tool selection then a snap on catalog.

Jersey Mike 10-21-2009 12:10 PM

It's not for the performance enthusiasts; it's target market is that rich guy who wants something to brag about. "Yeahh, it's fast. Expensive too, cost me almost half-a-mil. Less than 500 made 'ya know..."

Those who want performance wouldn't take a second look at this thing.

LTb1ow 10-21-2009 12:18 PM

It just needs an LT1. Then I'd buy it.

racerx520 10-21-2009 01:08 PM

not a huge huge fan of lexus IMO.
i'd like to see a quarter mile of the LFA vs the ZR1. from what i understand the ZR1 was pretty much owning the competition past a couple ferraris and lambo's

Have you ever thought about the fact that not everyone gives a damn if they have the fastest car in 1/4 mile out there? Hell, I would take Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione over ZR1... and yes I know my car would be slower in the 1/4 mile. Would I give a damn? Not at all.

GP99GT 10-21-2009 03:01 PM
