? about longtubes.

im just double checking before i actually do it, but does longtubes fit if you have a t56, im talking about my 88 iroc i have a t56 and i was wondering if longtubes would clear everything. i know with the t5's they don't.

im not sure about gen 1 but i do know that on ls swapped cars in thirdgens they need specific headers.

yea i know, i heard around that you can, but like i said before i go threw it i just want to make sure if it is possible or not.

Which LT's and what size collector? To my knowledge they should fit. My car, a 86, used to have a T5 with Hooker LT's. Now I have a th-400 which is wider then a T5 and the headers still fit. Maybe I missing something with the bellhousing and clutch set up....but it should work....please correct me if i'm wrong.

The only mods I had to do were, fab up a custom y pipe and fasten the speedo cable to the tunnel so it didn't contact the collector or new y pipe.

the normal 3rd gen headers hit the slave cylinder on a T5, iirc, i think LT1 t56s have a similar issue.(LS1 t56s have the internal slave)

i put a 350tpi/t5 in an 88 monte and got LTs to fit with some work heating and bending them to clear, wasnt fun and i ended up just going to shorties.

what about the cheapo headman header longtubes will that give me a prob with the t56.

i think all brands of LTs will have some clearence issues, especially ones that claim to fit even the 2nd gen f bodies, because they tuck up closer to the drivetrain to clear the different frames more.
