Ever have a day like this?
where it seems everything decides to no cooperate or break just to piss you off in stride?
So I'm down here at "Bandit88"'s house and decided to pull the car trailer back in the driveway and get the LT1 off it. That way I can take my trailer back home with me. Seems simple enough. Well, first thing after I get hitched up is I sunk the back tires in the soft dirt here. So after about a hour, two 2" ratchet straps, one tree, and heating up my transmission, I break free. and get back on solid ground. And I was told that I wasn't allowed to complain about the duramax 2500 I didn't get. :mrgreen: Then back the LT1 off the trailer, roll the window down so I can hear commands, and the window motor friggin' dies. So I take the door panel off, pull the motor off, yank the window up by hand and put the motor back in. I replaced it in 2004 too. Its amazing, I think letting these cars sit is far worse then beating the crap out of them every day. Im done for the day now. I had enough. |
i agree a car that sits is just going to fall apart when it gets going again. hate those days though. at least it wasn't raining, windy, and a 5 mile walk up hill BOTH WAYS!

Yea i know right Adam. I'm astonished that all the lights worked when I plugged the trailer connector into my truck.

Absolutely! It goes both ways though.
Last weekend it took me 4 hours to install a tach and install the linkage on my Muncie (which ended up being wrong due to a 68-only thing). Everything fought me- from electrical connections right down to nuts being frozen on threaded rod. Was pissed about that at the end of the day. This weekend I had 5 hours to work- so I took of the old frozen in place shocks, ripped out the old exhaust pipes and mufflers, shimmed and installed the rear brake calipers, hooked up all of the rear lines, formed and anchored the front brake lines, connected everything up there, air tested it, bled the brakes, and hooked up the rear brake lights- which work great. Oh yeah, and I installed all of the clutch linkage and got it all adjusted. I caught up so fast that I almost don't know where to go next. So who knows? I guess theres some type of car-guy parity, that gives you a crap day and then a great one later. |
Your right Bill. Last weekend I did the plugs and wires on the LS1, and it wasn't hard to get the #8 plug like everyone says it to be. Then I refixed the headlight motors and they are working great now.
Current mood is still ticked off at the experiences 2 hours ago.:lol: |

Well I had a successful day working on my car, stuff actually cooperated for once. But that is entirely out of the norm for me, so I feel your pain.

Yes and no.. don't wanna hijack but I had an issue with an injector deciding to come loose of the rail on the way to Adam's shop.... yea...

my 09 nats were kinda like that.......
got there, wasnt really blocking the bridge but i was still told to move, was told to turn around in this small area without running on the yards, and ended up putting the trailers spare tire into the tbss bumper leaving a nice hole...... then the car was acting a fool and i went out in the first round. then when leaving the trailer had a flat and i needed to change it out with the car loaded on the trailer which isn't fun |
that's like my day everyday. cant seem to win lately.

Ive had tons of those days. Especially the last thing I did to my car. New terminal wires and pigtail. car wouldnt start... put a new pigtail in and it starts then i find my low voltage issue and order the parts... next day it says :moon: and the rocker arm stud breaks...
I'm more worried about the statement about letting the cars sit.... Mine sat for 12 years :lol: Quote:

well, if they are normal valve stems, i would switch them out for high pressure personally. especially since he was having issues. you don't have to worry about metal screw ins dry rotting either :)
