LOL. all aboard the fail boat. im looking up fixes for this and some just open it up and put new fans in it, but i dont want to be like those kids from those 'pah!' videos...who knows if it even works. anybody ever have this happen to them on their 360?

Red Ring Of Death, microsoft has a 3 year warranty for that FYI so before you void it by opening it up I would call them....

have to sign in or create an account, the link is on this page 'repair your console'

sweetbmxrider 12-01-2009 07:25 AM

call em up 1-800-4MY-XBOX

Camvill 12-01-2009 09:09 AM

before you call unplug all of your wires to the xbox including the power outlet. Then reconnect all the wires and try turning it on. In rare cases (mine) this works.

sweetbmxrider 12-01-2009 10:43 AM

eh there are different light patterns that mean different things, this one is an internal hard drive failure or something like that. wiki has an article.

iamsickofitall 12-01-2009 07:15 PM

microsoft has a KB article on how to troubleshoot this and a link to do the return for repair thing. i was without an xbox for 17 days when i sent mine out for repair.

i just barely made it within the 3 year window...if i waited a few more days to fill out the form online, i would have had to foot the bill.

madness410 12-01-2009 08:38 PM

dam that sucks. i will send it out tomorrow mine is within warranty.

BigRocsFirebird 12-01-2009 10:14 PM

it's not that bad. i got a few months free of xbox live when they sent mine back. i've had red ring 2x now. it always happens but if you want to be able to play it for a few hours the towl trick does work.

Czop418 12-02-2009 12:10 AM

... Well heres a trick to TEMPORARILY fix the problem. What your gonna have to do is wrap your xbox in a bunch of towels. Than turn it on and let it sit for a couple hours. What it does is it essientially cooks itself. And Microsoft put this great sensor in there that if the unit gets too hot it will power itself down and go into a safe mode were it resets the internal board. Therefore TEMPORARILY fixing the problem. When i did this trick it lasted 2 weeks. I heard of people doing this and it lasting a couple of months. So hey give it a try. Just remember in the end your gonna have to send it in anyway.

Screw Microsoft and Sony! You should go to PC gaming and mod the **** out of GTA4

madness410 12-02-2009 02:25 AM

lol im gonna send it in...i would try the towel trick but its actually helping me in the long run breaking now..with finals coming up and me getting addicted to cod mwf2 its not a good combination...if i ship it out i should have it by winter break

BurntTreez28 12-02-2009 07:58 PM

i would def say send it in, and if they say you are past your warranty time i would bitch and moan about how you are losing money on not being able to play the xbox live that you paid for....worked for me:lol:
