Need some GM 3.4 help

So a friend of mine spun a rod bearing on his 02 Grand Am. He found this

I told him he should buy a motor and call it a day but he's cheap an he wants to just throw a crank in and thats it. Since he doesn't listen to me i figured I post this so he can read it himself. My questions are the following:

1) How stupid would it be to just put a "reground and rebalanced" crank and that's it (He says the rod journals are fine but i haven't seen it)
2) Would that crank kit work on a 02 3.4 from a grand am
3) What possible problems could him doing this create

any 3.1 or 3.4 crank will work. personally I would use a crank/rods from a 3.4 F-body, because they are factory forged internals. you just can use the pistons, unless he wants to run 12:1 cr

Get a used motor. I spun a bearing in my old 3.8 firebird. I bought a crank kit like this one and about 1 week after install it spun another bearing. The shop didnt warrenty it due to it not being there parts. 800.00 down the drain there.

Just get a used junkyard motor and call it a day. Also I used 3 qts of Lucas oil and 2 qts of 20W50 oil and the knocking went away. Put about 20,000 miles on the bad motor with the lucas oil setup. Just another Idea in case he needs to get around or has to save up before buying a motor.
