LT1 Head Delema?
So far i've been researching heads and I'm looking for basically the best bang for the buck. I'm trying to spend less then $1800 on heads alone (pre assembled)...
So far I've checked out llyod elliot, patriot , trick flow ,afr , edlebrock , advanced induction , dart . I know theres more out there but thats all i got a chance to browse upon. I've been basically looking what has the best flow numbers and I've been checking out the llyod elliot 236/240 .592/.592 112 LSA or at least something comparible with it , so i'm going to need a head that can support .600 or above lift. My goal is to make over 400rwhp H/C full bolt on LT1 Just looking to see if anyone can point me in the right direction or atleast narrow it down to a few options..... Thanks in Advance for your imput  |
le2's will do that with a stock bottom end. mine flow 282/195 @ .600 and with the patriot double springs, they are good to .650 lift.
there is also ai. brandon had his heads worked by TEA and they flow real good. i also hear josh can do portwork as well |

got em used. i'd say no more than a month full turn around. well worth the wait IMO

Quick quesstion. Are those lift numbers with the rockers you'll be using? 1.5 or 1.6?
|
Josh from JSperformance ported alex's heads and with a slightly larger cam then my LE1.5(I have LE2 heads) he trapped 118 full weight with a cage and 17" rims... I'm hitting 120mph like 500lbs less than him. I'd say Josh can port some heads :)

But I would be keeping a sharp eye on the for sale area on Tech and other big sites... lots of great deals on heads show up all the time. |
My vote is for AI. KILLER CNC work, and the turnaround time was less than a month.
I'll let the picture do the talking. These heads netted me 6.98 @ 97mph in the 1/8th (on a 383 of course, untuned). They have supported 500whp on a handful of solid roller cars as well. http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/v...009/heads9.jpg |

That cam is basically a combination of a GM847's lift with a 306's duration.
I would go with the LE2 heads or comparable, remember to budget for the intake being port matched. The LE2's have slightly larger valves then stock which will help increase the flow. What are you using for a bottom end? That much cam is going to need to be spun pretty high and need a 3200-3600 stall convertor. 1st gear is going to be worthless on street tires. LOL! |
My intake is gasket matched nd ported a little, its also opened for my 58mm throttle body. I think all in all itshould flow really well with LE2s
|
Mine wasn't ported to my heads, seems to be working alright.
Prob could gain a few HP/TQ but at the moment its not a priority. |
