need help with tv connections
So ive been trying to connect my laptop to my tv so i ordered a VGA to RCA cable( the one that has the 3 color pins connections red, blue, green). so i hook it up to the laptop then to the back of my tv and when i go to that output im not getting anything. why is this? what else do i need to do
The red blue green is HD not RCA.
ok. so how do i make it work
does the t.v. not have red/white/yellow ??
Some tvs are not compatible that way. It sucks, but I just had the same problem trying to hook my friends Sanyo up to his desktop. I know my tv has an actual 15 pin connector on the back just for that reason.
ya my tv doesnt have that 15 pin. so i tired using this.

Does your laptop or TV have and S-video connection? Most laptops do, so you can just do an s-video to RCA if your tv doesn't have an S-video connection.
my tv has an S-video but my laptop does not. could i do VGA to Svideo?
Yes
are you hitting the external monitor shortcut?
Its generally function F9 or so |

i had to actually go into settings an enable the second monitor. if you right-click the desktop and go to properties where the screen saver and other bs is, you may have to enable it. i set mine so i only use the tv and the laptop is closed but does nothing (shut down, sleep, etc...)
but you do realize you are trying to use hd cables like it was pointed out? you have them in the correct input on the tv and are on the correct input screen? |
