I HATE my xbox 360!
I know there's alot of folk here that love em' but i'm going on my 3rd xbox 360 in 8 months:banghead:. This is getting ridiculous. I've never had so much trouble with any of my other game console. I'm thinking of switching to PS3. I know my PS2 never had any problems, as a matter of fact, I still have it and it works like it did when I got it new. The quality of the xbox is garbage:barf:and I'm sick and tired of replacing them. The only upside to this situation is I bought the 2year $60 warrenty at BestBuy so I just go and get a new one. But still, I'm tired of it either freezing, not reading the disc on startup (open tray), "upable to read disc" while in the middle of a game, and of coures the dreaded RROD:mad:. When the next Xbox console comes out, I won't be in line for it:???:.
End Rant! |
damn dude that blowzzzz! ive had the RROD once and after i got it fixed, it has trouble reading the discs. soooo ill have to send it back again :/
|
when i bought my 360, i turned it on and tried loading CoD WaW, and got the RROD almost 10 minutes after owning the damn thing. Have a replacement and not a problem since. Still, I would choose my ps3 over my 360 anyday.

ya its pretty sad

The ps2 had issues when it 1st came out. I had to send back my 1 one for a disc read error code. |
that sucks i know how you feel. when i got RROD the 2nd time i was going for the AR-15 to take it out on my xbox. i love xbox but i must say it sucks for how they break so easy

Not saying its your fault, but there's a good chance your environment is what's causing so many issues. The 360 is not known for its reliability, yes, but 3 within 8 months is quite excessive.
Is it behind a surge strip? Do you have pets? A lot of hair around? Is the 360 in free space or is it in a cabinet? |

as for the OP, mine does the same thing...it says open tray, warning message with clean disc, or just freezes. it sucks..me and my lady friend were trying to play fifa 2010 tonight and it took me a good 7-8 minutes to get a game going |

EDIT: forgot - you should also never leave it flat on carpet. No-no. |

Ive had mine for about 2 years...not a huge gamer and dont use it a ton but never had any problems w/ mine...thought the problems were only w/ the older consoles.

360 is fun, but pretty crappy reliability, just like everything else Microsoft. When I was playing mine a lot I was going through one system every 4-6 months. I know there was a lawsuit or something that Microsoft lost back in '07 and ended up having to offer a new system to every single owner. Ended up costing them over a billion dollars.

I love my N64 [flamesuit on]

only had the RROD once so far, got a free month of live out of it though. |
egggh. I feel your pain with the Xbox. After the 3rd broken one i sent it back with a note in the box saying keep the POS i'm buying a PS3. Been a over a year and not 1 single problem. PS3 is win.
Edit: Wish i had a link to the article I read, but it said Mircosoft willingly sold the 360s knowing that over 75% of them would break within a year. LAME. |

Knock on wood, but I have had my 360 for over 3 years with no major issues yet. I'll get occasional disc read errors, but the xbox used to live in my parent's basement which is FULL of pet hair, so I just run a cleaning disc through it once in a while and everything is good.
I keep it on it's side in my TV stand - plenty of space around it, and the shelf is open front and back. I also put small (~3/8") rubber feet on it to get more airflow underneath of it. Now that my RROD warranty is up, I'm thinking about opening it up to give it a good cleaning inside. - Justin |
