Got my first ticket

Well got pulled over and ticketed for unclear front plate...I have no front plate so how is it unclear? Also he didn't give me a ticket for failed inspection but he said it was illegeal to drive with failed inspection is that true??

BonzoHansen 01-15-2010 10:04 PM

Yes, illegal in the sense he can write you a ticket for a bad sticker.

I imagine that is just the way the law is paraphrased on a ticket. The law is most likely longer and more descriptive and includes no plate.

unclear plates is the violation name for everything from a covered plate, to a missing plate to the wrong plate

You imagine correctly. The statute, 39: 3-33, covers unclear, improper display of, FAILURE TO DISPLAY FRONT PLATE and ficticious plates in about eight paragraphs. "Unclear Plate" fits the easiest on the summons next to a check off box.

wow i was expecting it for something else. after fallowing you i figured it'd be for speeding or breaking lose at 60+mph lol

B4C 01-15-2010 10:50 PM

Haha yeah lol that cop was on my bumper faster than a fly on **** too. I'll take the rest to text msg...Im supprised my first ticket wasn't for something else either.

91chevywt 01-16-2010 12:01 AM

sounds like the cop was generous...getting banged for the failed inspection thing is not cheap

B4C 01-16-2010 12:04 AM

Well I mean I'm always respectful to the cops so I'm shure he cut me a break with the inspection and just wrote me up for the plate instead of both.

Welcome to the plate club buddy. I just got another one at 3:01 today, using high beams in a rural area with no lights....go figure.

you got a ticket for using your high beams?

V 01-16-2010 09:19 AM

he must have been within 500ft of another car.

and once i got "improper use of highbeams" for flashing a car in front of me. the cop overlooked me previously spinning the tires through the intersection in front of him, hehe, so i wasnt gonna argue

Wolfblitz 01-16-2010 10:57 AM

I was looking for a friend stranded on the side of the road. Black car, dead battery. I passed the cop while he was waiting in a speed trap. No lights on the road and nobody else around.

That sucks. Did you know if you see deer in the road it's illegal to avoid hitting the deeer? I was with a friend last year and deer were in the road so he swirved a bit to avoid hitting the deer, and a cop saw it and pulled us over and my friend got a reckless driving ticket because the deer ran away when the officier came flying up. Since there we no deer in sight, the officer assumed my friend was playing around and issued the ticket and told us if there's deer out, don't swirve to avoid them it will just end up in another ticket.

Well it could have been worse...
On the inspection issue, once you fail they give you a red Rejected sticker that i thought was good for 30 days until you fixed the problem?

45 days, thats why i keep my paper work in the car

edit: new inspection stickers have the big number of the month it was inspected in the middle, kinda like p.a. so its possible he saw the number overtop of the rejected sticker and knew he couldnt give him the business over it.

He said "you failed inspection so the car should not be on the road unless you are going to a repair facillity or inspection station" I just have a white square w/ a 1 on it for the failed sticker.

Brendan713 01-17-2010 10:09 PM
