another "how much power will this make?"
Im in the process of putting together my 85 camaro. Ive got a stock 350 shortblock with 12k miles on it. I have the following for it.
a lunati streetmaster 2 cam (.507'' lift, 235 duration at .050 and 108 LSA.) vortec heads modified for up to .550 lift. angle milled to 60cc. (My machineist said this should bring me around 10.0-10.2:1 static compression.) Edelbrock RPM Airgap intake holley 670 carb flowtech shorties and y pipe into 3'' flowmaster 80 series catback (no cat) TCI streetfighter 3000-3500 stall converter into a stock rebuilt 700r4 3.73:1 posi rear. running a 275/60/15 tire. Probably gonna go with et streets or something along those lines Stock suspension (for now) How much power do you guys think this motor will make? Any estimates on a 1/4 mile time? |
rwhl or fly hp? and is the car in full street trim or is it a potato chip?
|
For the most part it is in full street trim. the ac, emissions equipment, ecm etc. are gone. It has a fiberglass hood. No spare tire stuff. Other than that its pretty full.
Im curious what it would make at the crank |
My flywheel guess would be around 370 hp and 400 ft/lbs. I'm guessing in that area because the ZZ4 is rated at 350hp and it has a slightly smaller cam (.474/.510 on a 112LSA) and 58cc aluminum heads, which don't flow as well as your modded Vortecs should.

carb dialed in well, I would say around the 385-400 mark @ fly. 315-325hp rwls pushin through a auto, 325-340hp though a t5
with a decent 60' should run a high 12- low 13 pass |

This is good news, Im on a quest for the 12's. Im hoping the carb is going to be enough fuel. Other than that, I feel confident that this combo should work well. I guess Ill find out when I find the time to finish putting it together and get it in the car! I hope to have everything dialed in and ready to go by spring.

p.s. I've seen the same setup go mid to high 13's cause the driver didn't know how to leave, shifted early & or late, etc... Experienced driver, good track & weather conditions.... absolutely good for a low 12 |
@365-375HP at the crank , Not crazy about the carb choice . 275 60 15 is a tall tire for 373's . Ill guess 1.8 -1.9 60 ft . 12.8 - 13.1 1/4 @ 102-104 mph . If its tuned in well, I guess mid 12' s . Best of luck to you !!

I only bought that carb because It was rebuilt for 100 bucks. I really would like to put a 750 on it. Do you think it would make a big difference? The only reason I went with a bigger tire and a 3.73 was because I was worried about engine rpms through the traps on a stock bottom end. Should I be worried about this? or should I go with a 26 or 27'' tire instead?

you could use a better set of headers though, the flowtechs are total crap

Hopefully the weather will break soon and Ill be able to find the time to put everything together. Its so frustrating to have everything you need to make a relatively quick car, and have no time to wrench on it.

The car will see some street time, How much time will be determined by what it drives like. I never had a car with this big a cam or this high of stall speed before, so I really dont know what its going to be like around town.

Thanks man I appreciate it. I just got back from the garage, I got the new cam and the timing set in it. Id have gotten alot more done If a peice of my harmonic balancer puller didnt break off inside me CRANK! I had to drill that out, needless to say I was inventing all kinds of new 4 letter words. Hopefully if I have time tomorrow I can get the pan and timing cover back on, along with the heads and intake!
