Who has to drive there fbody in the snow?

Just wondering who has to drive their car all year. The last big snow storm that Sunday it was all trucks and myself. I have the salt bags and or weight in the back and full gas... any other tips?

who drives their F-body year round

check out the poll in the lounge

If you have to drive your F-Body year round, the best thing you can do is get a stock set of wheels and buy a set of dedicated snow tires. The weight in the hatch is also good, but snow tires make all the difference in the world.

Wolfblitz 02-03-2010 03:30 PM

Yea, i'm one of the all year guys. Not to bad except for this year with the random heavy snows lol.

BonzoHansen 02-03-2010 03:32 PM

I drove my 76 Camaro and my 82 TA in the snow, until I got wise and had a daily beater. My 77 is allergic to salt.

Scrat's_Camaro 02-03-2010 04:38 PM

creeper 02-03-2010 04:49 PM

Jersey_TA 02-03-2010 08:05 PM

I used to drive my t/a all the time in the snow for prob 6 years....until I wised up and bought a beater :)

camaro2you 02-03-2010 09:41 PM

I take my 98z out after snow sometimes depending on how bad it was, 6 speed sucks to get up into my own driveway i have to put it in second and baby the clutch....i prefer the truck in the winter but the camaro gets better gas mileage.......

T69SS 02-03-2010 10:21 PM

I keep the 69 nice and safe in the garage. Doesnt see any rain or snow

My F150 on the other hand is a different story...

MyFirstZ 02-03-2010 11:23 PM

i get around with my sumitomos on, just turn off my asr and i can get out of most situations

Personally, I would take those salt bags out and replace them with sand bags. For one, they're about $4/bag at home depot (sand). Secondly, if that salt absorbs any moisture over the time you have it in the trunk, that could really corrode any metal back there. Sand won't have that nasty effect.

I've got a 60-lb. bag of sand in the back of my T/A for the winter. The added weight, with a full tank of gas before the snow hits, works wonders.

Aminue 02-04-2010 05:24 AM

I'm praying we don't get hit this weekend, doing everything I can to get my truck back on the road so I don't have to attemp to take the camaro out! 4x4 is so much easier
