Painted Another One This Week...

Got this 69 Chevelle in from a guy about 4 weeks ago. We sanded the entire body down, did the appropriate bodywork to smooth it all out, and laid down 3 coats of black base, the red stripe, and 5 coats of clear.
I started wetsanding and buffing yesterday....I'll post completed pics when it's back together in another week or so.

Much better now than with that crazy blue on blue with the awkward stripe I think.

Thanks.....I sanded and buffed the decklid last night and the shine was insane. Should have about 2/3 of it buffed by tonight and finish it tomorrow. Then reassembly this weekend. Then...on to the next one!

This was a budget job since it wasn't sodablasted. They start in the 10k range. Our full jobs start at 15k.

Dats berry berry nize! When you sodablast them do you shake up the cola cans first and then pop the top?

mc73nova 02-23-2010 07:03 PM

Very Nice. That car is worth a pretty penny.

HardcoreZ28 02-24-2010 08:30 AM

Yeah it's a nice car. Engine bay could use some serious refurbishing. He put a new crate 396 in it last year that supposedly makes over 400rwhp but everything else in there is old and beat up.

TAdan 02-24-2010 08:37 AM

I know that car! It belongs to my g/f's friend's family.

I never said anything about the stripe but it always kind of bugged me, hehe. I think this is a much better paint scheme.

Nice work. I look forward to seeing it in person.

LOL small world. The original stripe would have been nice if it went all the way to the front of the car and wrapped across the top up there I think. But where it came across the hood just didn't flow in my eyes.

IROCZman15 02-25-2010 08:33 AM

Paul, is the paint booth in your garage? Very cool set up. Any closer to going full time with the restoration gig?

Booth is at a local shop in Manville that we use. Going full time in about 8 weeks is the plan right now. We'll see how it takes off.

Paul, is your backlog still huge? I have a couple of Nova guys that asked for an NJ resto shop a few months back...

Bill,
We're just about caught up. Taking tentative work for mid spring at this point so if you know anyone interested pass the info along and tell them to get in touch ASAP. I have a feeling after show season starts we'll start getting pretty booked again. I appreciate the word of mouth.
