Interior Removal
Is there any write ups on how to take out the interior of a third gen? Im going to replace mine soon and want to gut it out. There is nothing in the haynes manual about it and nothing I could find on thirdgen.org. Its prolly real easy but im away at school and have nothing to look at for reference. When I come home for break I want to have a plan of attack and not waste time trying to figure things out. I imagine its not that hard since its prolly just screws and some bolts.
Thanks |
its very simple.ive helped my brother strip interiors outa 2 4th gens.dought its much different.id start by takin the seats out.those are prob the easiest to start with.not sure if the center consoles the same but on the 4th gens all it was is like 4 or 5 screws and that comes right out

First, if its still there, take off the trim around the seat bolts. Theres four trim pieces right over there leg. One screw I believe and it off.
Front Seats: 4 bolts on floor. The 2 seat belt screws and the fronts are out. Rears: One bolt on each seat. And its out. Trim: Removal out visible screws. There are no hidden ones. Center Console: Two bolts on inside of it. Remove radio, shifter plate, and heater control. Then its a little work to wiggle it out. Carpet comes right out after out that's gone. Headliner: Remove dome light, and sun visors. Then just clips hold it in. Its a very simple to remove. Once you see it, you'll get it. |
if you have a decent set of torx bits then youre in good shape.

so i went home on sunday and ripped it all out. It was pretty easy lol. Hardest part was one of the seat belt bolts was stripped so i had to hammer a bigger torx bit in it. All good now though! |
I always end up with a couple of extra bolts when I put a third gen interior back together
