have a general question i need answered.....

i am on a durango/dakota forum...i sold a mopar performance pcm to a guy out of my dads 2000 dakota r/t...

in the listing i said it was out of a 2000 dakota r/t with security...

now the kid got it and his truck wont stay running for longer then liek 3 seconds, now i find out he has a 99 and theres a couple small differences apparently....

i offered a refund if the pcm was bad but the pcm is good, just not for his truck. do i give him a refund or since its technically his fault for not checkin compatability first i tell him hes stuck with it?

i dont wanna be a dick but i also need the money and he got it cheaper then most are selling for....

what to do?

BonzoHansen 02-28-2010 04:04 PM

you told him 2000 and he has a 99? What's the problem? His problem unless you want to be extra swell and take it back. If you want maybe offer 1/2 refund and he keeps it, god knows if it is any good now.

Slo86Bird 02-28-2010 04:08 PM

2000 dak r/t mopar pcm- SOLD

thats what i said except obviously the sold part. and he emailed me and i told him it was for a truck with security.

BonzoHansen 02-28-2010 04:09 PM

i dont see where that is your problem.

Slo86Bird 02-28-2010 04:10 PM

thats what im trying to find out. do i be a nice guy and refund him and he pays shipping back or do i just be a dick and say its his fault for not checking into it first?

BonzoHansen 02-28-2010 04:13 PM

best I would do is the 50/50 option. what are you going to do with it now? you have no idea if he screwed it up. you don't know its condition

Slo86Bird 02-28-2010 04:14 PM

i will take that into consideration and wait till i hear what other people would do.

thanks.

NJ Torque 02-28-2010 04:27 PM

I would do nothing. Simply...

fmybody 02-28-2010 04:29 PM

its not your fault.. and like it has been mentioned.. it may be garbage now... the safe thing to do would be to say sorry but you cant take it back.. if you wanna be "nice" you may be arsed out lol.. with a broken pcm and no money

andy78TA 02-28-2010 04:31 PM

Yeah unfortunately things like that are always buyer beware. If he didn't check and ask questions that is his fault.

enRo 02-28-2010 04:39 PM

It's his ****up. He should of researched if your PCM for sale was even compatable with his truck. Now, if he damaged the product, that is even MORE his problem. Because now if you offered a refund, you wont be able to sell it , because its garbage. You would lose money AND an item for sale.

Slo86Bird 02-28-2010 04:42 PM

heres another thing thats been floating in my head....he has the grill shell i want for my truck......i asked him a few weeks back if i could borrow it to make a mold and ill pay him for letting me use it.....i cant find the grill like anywhere else so itll prolly killl my chances of borrowing that if i tell him its on him....ya know?

SteveR 02-28-2010 05:28 PM

I say its his fault, he bought it, he keeps it. Also, if you do agree to a refund, you dont know if he blew it up or not trying to make it work, so you could be out the money AND the PCM.

TheV6Guy 02-28-2010 05:41 PM

his fault.id tell him hes stuck with it. like everyone else is saying he shoulda did research on it before buying it.

lol i kinda felt like there was more to it... decision process timee!! weigh ur options... do u need the money from the pcm or do you need the grill shell?

if u ask me id still keep the money and say EFF the grill because theres no garuntee hed let you use it neways even if you pay him.. some people just arent as cool as you... you dont wanna learn that the hard way..

Slo86Bird 02-28-2010 05:51 PM

i just asked him if he knew if his truck was def pcm or not and heres the response i got....

The truck was originally a v6 and everything was swapped over for the R/T stuff so im thinking it doesnt have security

NJ Torque 02-28-2010 05:58 PM

So its his mistake...

its def his fault. his problem.screw him.keep the money

bad64chevelle 02-28-2010 07:57 PM

his loss, it could be bad when you get it back.

Whiplash Performance 02-28-2010 08:50 PM

You said it was a 2000 he has a 99 and it didn't work he should have researched if it would work or not. So you sold it as advertised so you shouldnt have to refund him at all.
Also with every place you go to all electronics devices are sold as is no refunds. Since there's not way to check it out if he damaged it or not.

91chevywt 02-28-2010 09:42 PM

Don't refund it. He should understand if you can't do it. Theres no way to tell if it's damaged. He could have dropped it or who knows what else. Plus, if he ships it back to you it might get wrapped up in the crappiest box with no cushioning.

Any store that sells electronics doesn't refund, there should be no reason for you to either. Just too many things that could go wrong.

BigRocsFirebird 02-28-2010 09:54 PM

Yo Austin just tell him you've asked around and been told the PCM could now be dead and theres nothing you can do about it now.

DaSkinnyGuy 02-28-2010 09:56 PM

sucks for him.

crazyblazer87 02-28-2010 10:22 PM

Did he program your pcm with the security? By the sounds of it starting and stalling after three seconds, the security is not allowing it to keep running. even if he doesn't have security the pcm is still looking for the security codes to keep it running. Either way i say that it is the guys fault to not check into compatibility and/or not getting it programmed properly. changing modules now of days is touchy because the computers usually only get programmed once and then can't get changed until they get sent back to the manufacturer .

xrelapse13 03-01-2010 04:15 PM

You advertised it honestly and he just didnt do his research. It's his fault. Keep the money and don't take the risk of getting back a bad pcm
