Lifting questions

Coupla questions for the lifters on here...

First, I need something for joints, what I am taking now is not cutting anymore, kinda starting to hurt.

Second, what do you guys do when you plateau? I can't seem to get a full set of bench at a new weight, I can do the full set with the current weight no problem.

Think thats it for now.

Thanks.

1.) Met-Rx joint guard. And rest.

2.) Change up the routine! If you are 5x5ing, you have to start over.

Start over at what kind weight?

And I will look into the Met-Rx stuff, they also make that creatine you use right?

seriously though, if you're plateauing, have you tried pyramid lifting? It's a good way to bump up to a higher peak.

LTb1ow 03-09-2010 01:17 PM

I used to do pyramids on bench, and then started on a 5x5 workout, maybe I will switch back to the pyramid.

1.) Beginning of your 5x5. If your bench is low do inclines and build your tri's. Go 3x8 for a little while. 5x5 does not work forever. Once you get up to a high enough weight the 2% jump can be a lot.

2.) Yes.

At the moment, I do super sets, with bicep, tricep and bench... Prob a bad combo I guess. But I figure if you tire out your triceps it forces your bench to more rely on your chest, any logic there?

hmm, when you get tired out, what hurts first? Your chest or triceps when benching? Your triceps are responsible for the arm extension portion of the motion and doing tris with bis and pecs, you might be tiring your tris early.

where do you fail? off the chest/mid-way/lockout?... mix up rep/set schemes, look into different programs, do different accesory lifts, etc

Usually get stuck mid way up, and no spotter makes it tough to push myself. I think I will do a pyramid workout for a coupla weeks and then see if I can get to where I want on my 5x5.

well since this is a question thread, ill throw one in as well.

im trying to put on a little bit of size but i want definition and can only find workouts for one or the other. also would creatine be fine for this? im currently not taking anything and am looking for a little faster/better results, any suggestions?

LTb1ow 03-09-2010 03:44 PM

USP jack3d. tis ftw. Unless you are WBT..

If you take three scoops its three grams of creatine, and its also good at cutting. Def helps build size and cheaps me cut at least. Sorta. I eat pretty lousy... 8-)

Yeah, stuff didn't do much of anything except raise my HR. Would have been fine to stay cut and get a good workout but not to build power in my case.

anything else that anyone can suggest?

Jclt12003 03-23-2010 05:16 PM

first off look into glutamine for joint pains and muscle sorness.

secondly what helps me alot is to keep the muscles guessing don't go in the gym and do the same routine over and over again. Lets give you an example, for instance you could go in and do flat bench decline and incline bench one week but the week after switch over to dumbell presses and yes you can do incline decline and flat dumbless presses. This will keep the muscles confused this is how they get such good results with P90X it's all muscle confusion, if you want more info check out www.bodybuilding.com it's a great site wealth of information.
