Loudon/Fairfax and Somerset/Hunterdon are always bouncing around the top 5-7 in some order.

According to that list, no it isn't.

I'm 5 min from Hunterdon County, and they're both in the top 10...how is that not?

BurninrubberGT 03-21-2010 08:17 PM

just go to CCM's parking lot, and you will see how rich some of the students parents are..

T69SS 03-21-2010 08:25 PM

I saw that on the MSN homepage today too. Pretty cool, and they are all in the top 10

Around DC, sure. That area is extremely wealthy. However, their home prices way down compared to ours. I know people who are so house poor they can't afford to move.

"But a big chunk of that healthy income goes toward maintaining the good life. Loudoun homeowners pay a median $4,844 per year in property taxes. Tax burdens are similarly high in a lot of well-off counties."

haha thats a joke, my parents are paying a little under 3 times that here in good ole mercer

The defense world pays quite handsomely, and the epicenter of a lot of it is in northern and eastern VA.

Makes sense, I didn't even think about that

Keep in mind that many of the people in Loudon live on postage stamp sized lots with no land. 3 or so years ago I had some friends move down there (Ashburn) and they paid $525k for a 3 bedroom townhouse.

BurninrubberGT 03-22-2010 09:09 AM

Geez my parents pay just over 10k in Morris county

That's true, but I'm paying more than that in taxes and my house only sits on .17 acres - not exactly a lot of room to spread out.

That's not even worth mentioning! My stripped down 3 bedroom split in Ewing with 1-1/2 bathrooms, 1/4 basement, no fireplace is $8300 and all my neighbors have bigger houses! My cousin in Titusville about 10 minutes away where I keep my boat on the Delaware River is paying around $20K in taxes and they get no services in Hopewell Township compared to Ewing. How the heck Hunterdon is even in the top 100 is beyond me, that is mostly farm land with pickup drivers and farms! This state is such a lost cause it's incredible people still live here!

Tewksbury and Readington pull it up, like Bernardsville does for Somerset. Hopewell, Kingwood, and the Amwells are the farmland.
