Can you suggest epic blue ray movies? Just got an LED TV!

Ohhhhh yes. LED TV = FTMFW!!!!

We had a 52 inch RCA rear projection tv which suffered damage in our house move a couple years ago - color was fading.

We got a Sharp Aquos 52 inch LCD LED TV.

OK, OMG - LED is EPIC!!!!

I have a bazzillion movies but only a couple in BlueRay.

Wolverine
Zombie Land
Terminator Salvation
Iron Man
Batman 2

Can anyone suggest some absolutely awesome blue ray movies?

While zombie land was an awesome movie, there seemed to be nothing special about the quality of the blue ray. Wolverine had a couple moments.... Iron Man had some more OMG EPICNESS moments.

I'm about to watch Terminator today and I've heard it is absolutely amazing. I haven't watched batman yet.

My buddy has 2012 in BR so I'm gonna try that. I've also heard Transformers Revenge of the Fallen is awesome in BR.

So, got any suggestions??

Thanks

transformers in blue ray is insane. depending on the refresh rate of the tv you have, you might want to spend some money on a good HDMI cable so that it can support the data flow at the high refresh rates. my parents have the 120hz lg and we bought the good cable for it and wow what a difference it makes.

Gladiator is amazing on Blu Ray.

BigRocsFirebird 03-27-2010 10:19 AM

yeah HDMI cables makes a big differnce. i forget the brand but we have a HDMI cable it was 120$ and it blew the 40$ one we had away. but Transformers and Ironman is good IMO

BurninrubberGT 03-27-2010 10:39 AM

every newer movie is epic on blu ray

Slow-V6 03-27-2010 10:51 AM

Make sure you setup your PS3 in the menus for 1080p! I never did until about a month after we got our 1st PS3.

Any movie is amazing on BR. Try the Matrix on BR! We have the trilogy on HD DVD and it is insane! Like watching a new movie!

At short distances (6' HDMI cables are the biggest sellers by a large margin) pretty much any HDMI cable will work just as well as any other at the data rates that high-def video is using today. If you are buying cable for long runs (like to a ceiling mounted projector or similar) it could be better to spend the cash on higher quality cables.

Most reviews I've seen actually show that the mid-priced store-bought cables usually perform worse than cheaper cables purchased online.

Every HDMI cable I own I purchased for less than $10 shipped to my door from monoprice.com, and picture quality on them is great. I've also recommended those cables to at least 6-8 others, and no one else has had issues either.

Don't get wrapped up by electronics store salesman that tell you that you need to spend over $100 on a fancy gold plated 6' HDMI cable to get a quality picture.

we didn't get talked into it we were useing it for the projector outback. we also have 6 hdmi cables each one was 20$ they work pretty good to.

Love my monoprice HDMI cables. They go for like 3.50 a cable.

I think the first 5 minutes of Ironman is the best I've seen on blueray.....you feel like your in the humvee with them.

misterjuice 03-28-2010 08:35 AM

Pootie Tang on Blue Ray is oozing epicity

Tsar 03-28-2010 08:41 AM

King Kong looked awesome.

We have the HDMI cables. We bought mid priced ones so as not to get super cheap, but also to not spend a fortune. they are only 6 feet, so shouldn't be an issue.

We use the PS3 as the BR player, as well. And all the settings were changed to 1080 immediately. :)

It's an awesome TV though. I almost want to buy another one (albeit smaller) for the bedroom. LOL. It is viewable from ANY angle (except of course from behind). but from the sides or head on, it is awesome.

Dark_Knight7096 03-29-2010 11:17 AM

I thought Watchmen, 300, Dark Knight, Top Gun, Hellboy 1&2, Transformers, Ghost Rider were sweet

I was VERY let down by Stargate, AvP, didn't look stunning visually at all

Supposedly one of the best sounding Blu-Rays is Black Hawk Down if you have a good surround sound system

I like this site, it reviews movies based on video effects, sound effects, quality of movie, HD experience, etc.
