G8 Lighting Mods - HIDs, Halogen Highs, Custom Halo Fogs (Pics)

I think everyone knows I'm a little bit of a nut when it comes to automotive lighting so the G8 finally got it's attention this weekend.

This weekend I installed the following:

HID (5000K 55W) Kit with Harness
2700K Halogen High Beams
2700K Fog Lamps
Custom Mounted/Wired Fog Lights with Halo Ring

The stock fog lights are horrible and melt with any light source with some decent power behind it. This simply would not do for my plans.

By far the most challenging install was the fog lights. These are really nice pieces and features a full aluminum body and glass lens with LED halo ring. You can throw anything in these fogs and they feature a H3 lamp which is more common than the 5202 style of the stockers. Mounting required some ingenuity and a custom bracket to be not only adjustable but secure in the existing fog light location. I think these fogs fit perfectly. The wiring was converted to plug into the stock fog light harness and the halo rings are wired to a switch by the dash.

The HIDs are the perfect color to me and really light up the road effectively. I thought about trying to match the color of the HIDs with different fog lamps however it's just not going to look right. LEDs work but produce hardly any output and HIDs are a little much in the fog light location. HIDs in fog lights tend to produce too much glare and I did not want to attract local law enforcement anymore than I already am. I chose the yellow 2700K lamps to not only provide superior light output over other halogen lamp temps at the same wattage, but just be a little bit different. Same goes for the halogen highs. I think it works well being that my car is orange.

Time for some pics but NJ weather sucks! Oh well.

I've seen those before but not in person. I have the 5K ultinons in my Bird and really like the color and output. Those are just 6k lamps which are rare but not worth the $$ IMO. I'm sure lighting snobs love them....wait did I just click add to cart?? Lol

Very sharp looking. My son Darren is getting set to install a GXP front bumper and is getting the HID lights installed at that time.
