Need help making up my mind
I can't decide which header to go with.
95 LT1 Trans Am Overall goal is good sound and performance. Secondary goal is least amount of fitment issues. Finish is the least of my concerns. Basically only looking for 3 years of use. I am also on a tight budget. I am trying to decide between these three Pacesetter 70-2239 Painted L/Ts(I know the issues with the paint I have that covered) 1 3/4 primaries 293.00 Shipped From ws6store no ORY included eBay Stainless L/T's(from ap1ap2) write up on ls1tech states fitment issues which are plenty to say the least LPP knock offs 1 3/4 stepped to 1 7/8 primaries 310.00 Shipped from ap1ap2 ORY included LPP Stainless L/T's 475 Shipped w/out ORY 600 Shipped w/ ORY including discount Noob needs help! |
If I would want longtubes then I would go pacesetter..
Have you looked at the mac mids? They are just about as good as longtubes but you have no clearance issues and no rubbing or hitting underneath the car like you do with longtubes. They dont need O2 extentions, and are easier to install. Here is the description of them. Under 500.00 including y-pipe! Macperfomance 94-95 Single Catalytic Car Header System Part Number: TF94957 Price: 489.50 Description: 28.4 Rear Wheel Horsepower on LT1! This header is made of 1 5/8" 16ga. tubing and comes complete with a 2.5" Y-Pipe and 3" Collector. Headers are chrome and the Y-pipe has no coating. Picture is for reference only. |
I vote LPPs. I bought them when they first came out last year and they are awesome. Because they are stainless, they are the last header you'll ever buy. Don't even bother with the painted Pacesetters.
IMO, save up some extra dough and get the LPPs! |
Anyone else have thoughts on Mac mids? I looked at them and easy install along with passing of inspection with a 28rwhp gain seems very appealing.

Go big or go home, IMO. :) |
Well as for "Go big or go home" here's why that's not a great suggestion for me. Modding will be limited for a couple years on the car as i still have a full warranty on the motor and trans so that leaves out any internal modding so i will just be doing bolt-ons. Also I plan on either doing an lsx swap in a couple years or just buying a 99-02 ws6 and modding that. I love my 95 and will never part with it do to sentimental reasons(long story). The stainless LPP's are really nice and are definitely bigger but for the hassle of install along with everything else I am starting to consider the Mac Mids. My question is since they claim to produce a rwhp gain of 28.4 and i have heard they still sound great plus they are inspection friendly with the keeping of all emissions would they be good for my overall plans?
All I am hoping for after bolt-ons is a low 13s car that is daily drivable and sounds nice. Plans for all mods are headers, ram air(preferred) or CAI, hooker cat-back, and a professional tune. With that being said what are thoughts of the mac mids? I have beaten myself senseless over researching the longtubes lol. Now I want to see thoughts from people that have/are running on mids that are happy. |
I ran MAC mids for a year or so, they just blued.

When I said "go big or go home" I meant get the best that will give you the most gains and most longevity. I think you will be happy with the LPPs or the MACs.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I have now made up my mind... finally lol. I will be saving up for the LPPs. :)

I have to admit they look sweet on there. I will be installing them motor in(with help from experienced people lol) my main concerns are clearing the k-member and steering linkage.

i would get pace setters but thats just me, i dont think that you need the LPPs. if you were planning on building this motor i would say get LPPs but you just want a bolt on car
