locked ECM

wemt to tune time this morning to get my ecm programmed and they told me it was locked and that they couldn't get in to it to change anything. How does that happen?

just a little backround PO changed the ECM thinking that was the problem and i have no idea what it came out of so i wanted a stock program loaded on it so everything was good.....and its locked

Could be a tuner locked it at one point in its life...

Tru2Chevy 05-17-2010 05:30 PM

Yea, that is the most likely cause. It was tuned previously and locked by that tuner.

i found a guy on ebay that has ECM's and he programs them VIN specific so that should ship in a day or 2 so i'll let you guys know how that turns out....a $100 problem has turned out to be a $140 problem

It's possible that your old PCM could be re-flashed and used as a spare.

My LS1 PCM had been locked, I just had it completely re-flashed for $50 by Ken Kelly (author of LS1Edit and lives near Morristown).
