Audio Makeover

Hey all, I've had my car for exactly 7 days now (1 week anniversary, anyone? haha) and am now in the process of replacing every speaker in it. The 2 front door speakers are torn, the sail panel speakers don't sound like they're even on, and all that works are the ones in the hatch along with... well... lol that's all I can use if I don't want to hear the incessant ripping and vibrating from the fronts.

I've done some research already, and I've come across CDT Audio having a sale go on; I get 250$ off a pro speaker package if I trade in my used ones.

HERE'S THE PROBLEM:
1) I've got the monsoon sound system in the SS, nothing else. If I replace the stock speakers with aftermarket ones should I keep an eye out for these labels I see? Like RMS and 180 Watts and 240 Watts running power for each speaker?

2) When I shortly add an 8" or 10" sub to the car, is there any bang for the buck? With me it's all about subtle bass, but noticeable and not overpowering.

Thank you all!

Can't comment on the Monsoon system, as I don't know much about it.

Personally, I would just replace the entire thing. New headunit / amp(s) / speakers / wiring, but that isn't always feasible.

I have a 10" JL sub (10w1-4). It's old and only handles 125W, but it hits hard. I like it because it's not loud and boomy, it's pretty tight.

Search some more...IIRC a number of those speakers are 2 ohms.

Yea, I think you are right. I never remember the details of the Bose and Monsoon systems though.

i had the monsoon in my 98 TA, however the set ups are differant between camaro and firebird.... in the firebird the main front speakers are 2ohm and need to be replaced with 2ohm speakers, the tweeters i left alone... the sail panel speakers in firebirds are 6in subs, i replaced them with factory monsoon 6in subs that were built with better materials then stock (found em on ebay and they kicked ass) however i dont think the camaro has these.
