Header EGR, AIR removal

Last night me and my buddy threw on a set of hooker lt's on his 99' SS.
Went in smoothly i must add.

Buttoned it all up when i came to realize he had no block off plates or anything like that for the headers and intake mani, my fault for not asking first. The headers had the ports for them but he wants it to get tuned out along with the AIR, so we hooked up the EGR when one of the flanges broke. So we welded a patch on it to block it off. So now we deff. have to get rid of it.

Whiplash if you can get me a list through your place i would buy them through you.

There are three EGR/AIR ports coming off the headers (first two parts numbers i put up)

One on the intake manifold.

Just want to verify these are the parts i need

99-86EGR Thunder Racing LS1 EGR Block-off plate for exhaust manifold/header, stainless steel, 1998-2000 F-body

99-86SP Thunder Racing LS1 Smog Pump tube Block-off plate for exhaust manifold/header, Stainless Steel, 1998-2002 F-body (2 required)

20-12558346 GM EGR Delete Plug for LS1 intake manifold, 1998-2000 LS1 f-body/truck

This is the website i used for these part numbers.

Those are the correct plates. I got mine off ebay for a lot cheaper though. It sounds like you have a welder, so why not just cut the flanges and weld the tubes shut? You can get a rubber expansion plug at home depot for the intake.

Thanks!

the welder we have isnt the greatest, and i think it is being taken from my shop the next few days, because the guy who owned it left and has been cleaning his stuff out, and i have very little experience, i just wanted to get him home.

Im not to worried about the price, because im not paying for it and i feel like it may just be a little easier doing it that way. we should have grinded them down then weld plates on before we put them in, but i did not realize he did not already have em.

Both times i have done lt's the cars had ls6 intakes so i didnt have this problem

Buying long tube headers with emissions is a huge mistake (Im guilty of this too). The emissions parts never make it back on after the install. The tubes with block off plates clutter the engine and make it a pain to change plugs and wires. Also, when blocked off, the tubes are a void for capturing heat which can lead to cracks in the headers.

I'll see if there is another brand that makes the block off plates since I can't get Thunder Racing brand parts.

Agreed. That's where I got mine before I installed the race headers. I think I paid $5.
