fuel problem??

hey guys i can drive my car for days and no problems but then out of know where fuel pressure will drop from 60 psi then drop to about 20 psi and spit and sputter it has a walboro 255 in there that i installed 2 years ago .i took it out cleaned the screen and put it back in about 2 months ago and ran great then just yesterday i was on a cruise for about 5 hr and it as about 90 deg out drove fine then i heard a pop and looked at gauge and saw it dropping to 40,20,60 then would stay at 20 so i puled over and took pump out and checked screen it as clear. when u turn key on to prime u can here the pump but it sounds like its trying to run against high pressure . and when i pulled off the lines gas shot out bolth lines like it as under high pressure filter hasn't been changed in awhile should i try that first??

Got a hot wire kit on there?

I would do the fuel filter first. Hot wire kit is a real good idea, I installed one in my car and also replaced the oem fuel pump relay. Also some ppl have had problems when changing fuel pump with the output line leaking in the tank under high pressure.
