scratches in new paint

ok... so i finally got the camaro painted. when i wet sanded it left scratches in the paint, i did it with 1500 grit. any ideas how to get them out before i buff? a friend suggested polishing compound before the buffing compound. does this sound right? thanks again

oooh 1500 no good but you could try a compound they have a 3m one that's good for 1200 grit or 1500 so try that then get a less gritty compound and so on. then polish but be careful b/c it can get worse

Should have finish sanded the car in 2000 or 2500. Then worked through 2 or 3 stages of compound then finally finish by polishing it out.

So do that now. I just hope you've got a few good coats of clear on it. O and btw stay the hell away from panel edges.

I agree.....go back over it atleast with 2000 paper, then 2500 and even 3000 if you really want to get that crazy with it. Then 2-3 different stages of polishing compound after.
