October Project Car of the Month Submissions

Anyone can post one picture of only their Project Camaro or Firebird in this thread.

We are bringing back the popular "Project Car of the Month" that we ran last year. No strict rules about what constitutes a project car, but it's definitely geared towards the not pretty / not running / needs lots of work crowd. :)

Please include your name and a short paragraph (at least a few sentences) describing the mods done to the car and/or a short story about the car as well.

If this is not posted in this thread by the time voting begins, your car will not be included in the vote.

At the last week of the month we will post a poll that will last for one week and the winner will get to spend the following month showcased on the home page of the site. Past winners will not be eligible to win again for 12 months.

All submitted pictures should be a minimum size of 640 x 480, as this is the size of the image that will be posted on the home page. If you aren't sure of the size, post it up the largest image you have (within reason).

If you have submitted a car in the past, but were not selected as a winner, feel free to submit another pic. You can continue to enter each month until you win.

Please limit this thread to posts submitting pictures only. Comments and other chit-chat will be removed.

GET THOSE SUBMISSIONS IN!!!

This is my 91 Trans am Convertible 1 of 500 #007. I picked it up just over a year ago from a member on the board. When i saw it i had to have it. im Currently doing all the body work and replacing the fenders and driverside door. The last owner replace the motor with a 350 and since i had i put in a posi 10 bolt rear with 3.08s. I'm also adding in all upgraded suspension and new interior. All in good time.

My name is Paul, and this is my project car.

Its a 1997 Pontiac Firebird with the 3800series V6 engine, auto trans, and 10bolt rear.
The previous owner made a name for himself and this car but a flood had different plans for it's future. I bought it while I was deployed in Afghanistan and have only since had time to clean up the flood residue and clean out the interior. My plans are to pull the drivetrain and do a full rebuild with only minor changes and upgrades. Once it goes back together it will be getting lexan all around and in addition to the 100hp shot of NOS through the throttle body, it will also have a 150hp direct port 2nd stage.
And if you were wondering, the hood will stay black.

This picture is of my 99 Camaro Z28 with the engine and trans slowly coming out. I lifted the body off of the K-member with a cherry picker attached to the radiator support, and it worked just like I needed it to. The motor was swapped out for a head/cam LS1 that now makes 405hp to the wheels through a Moser 9in. The car has gone a best at Atco of 11.85@119mph.

Well here is a 1988 camaro vert that has been brought back to life a few times over the years. I bought the car offf a friend of mine (The Wraith) back in 2007 when it was just a pile. After a few months of hard work it turned out to be one of the coolest things that I've done yet. Over the next few years, the car had a few engines, accidents and other stuff happen to the car, it was time for a repaint.

Anyways, it has a JS Performance 355, 11.25:1, ported CNC'ed AFR 195 done at Lorenzo's, heavily ported HSR done by Josh, mid 240's dur, damn near .600 lift at the valve on a 112 lsa cam, Comp Cam 1 peice 4130 push rods, PRW 1.6 rr's, Hooker 2210 headers, Mufflex 3" Y-pipe, into a 3" in and dual 3" out Random Tech catback. Suspension is none other than Spohn, with most of the stuff I built, helped design, tested and use any chance I get. Parts are, k-member, coil-over kit, a-arms, tq arm, rod/poly lca and phb, SFC's, 36mm/24mm sway bars, Koni Red's and other assorted stuff. Trans is a beefed up 700-r4 that I had done 9 years ago with a 3k 9.5" Vig convertor. That goes into a LS1 3.42 rear.

There is a host of other stuff done to the car, that is just the basic info. The best I've gotten the car to run is 12.0@114. Hopefully I'll be able to get that or better soon at the Nat's!

(Mods if you need a higher res pic let me know and I'll go shoot one with the better camera. The iPhone 4 camera is eh lol)

1995 Z28 camaro.... went through a lot of work to swap a K member. It then snapped wheel studs and I ruined a wheel. I now rock some sweet black ten spokes and big ass wheel studs.

Its slow, and raspy.. when it runs.

I have had this car for a little less than two years now and it has come along away. Still a ton of work to do but I’m at least seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. This is my first attempt at anything like this and without a doubt wouldn’t be possible without the help of the members on this site. My goal is to have a safe and functional car by next summer and I’m going to drive it every chance I get. Thanks for everything and more updates and pictures to come in the next month or so.
