Intake Porting

Can anyone recommend a good local shop to fully port an LT1 intake?

I can ship it out to TX for 200 but would rather keep down time to a minimal.

Thanks

Im pretty sure JS Performance can help you out.

We can do the intake. Just need to know what gaskets you run and what size throttle body you are going to use. We also have cores in stock if you want to purchase a manifold finished to your needs outright..

LTb1ow 10-26-2010 08:55 PM

Honestly, I run the stock LT1 intake gaskets because I did not have the intake ported, so not sure what else I could run.

What is your turnaround normally like? And how much would it be roughly?

JSPERFORMANCE 10-26-2010 09:02 PM

Turn around on porting your manifold is usually 2-3 days max after it is dropped off. Like I said just need to know which gaskets you intend on running (brand and part number) or we can supply a set for you, and the throttle body size. The labor for the manifold porting is $140.

LTb1ow 10-26-2010 09:15 PM

Is that a full intake port, or just gasket matching it?

JSPERFORMANCE 10-26-2010 09:23 PM

The LT1 intake is a large open plenum in the middle, the work is done in the small runner area from the gasket surface to the plenum. Also the entrance is opened up for your specific throttle body size and the transition is smoothed into the plenum.

Depending on your current modifications, you may not see any gains by having your manifold ported. AI (who knows a thing or two about LT1s) told me that the performance difference is negligible from stock to ported, since the stock one flows so well. If you wanted to open it up to a 58mm, that's all fine and good but anything past that might not really matter.

Having said that, I had AI port mine anyway because I have a 575fwhp motor.

ummmm....... yeah probably not!!! ha ha ha

if your gonna have it ported, trick is to use a 1/8" drill bit and drill 4 corners through intake manifold, gasket to heads. this way when ported the intake and gaskets are port matched and gives you a locating "pin" so it matches up perfectly when installed.

F.Y.I.: you should just buy a FAST LSxr intake , then buy the rest of the parts to complete a lsx motor for it. You can probbly get $100 for that boat anchor you got from the recycling yard!
