TPS Problem?

Hey guys,

I recently installed an airfoil on my stock throttle body. It seems every once in a while since then, my RPMS get higher when I put the clutch in. Sometimes the car "drives itself"...if I let off the gas it keeps going as if I were still on it. I cleaned the throttle body to make sure there was nothing making the blades stick open...What could this be? It doesn't happen very often, but when it does, its so annoying....

Thanks for your help!

year of car and motor? could be tps related or the idle air control valve too

my 1st instinct is IAC as well. might just be crummied up

Is this the clip in style, or the bolt in style air foil? Why do I remember hearing about problems if you didnt seal the top plate correctly on the TB's after you installed the bolt in ones....

because you will have a vac leak

Agree with above sounds like a idle control problem. The ecm might need time to relearn settings after a cleaning. Check your install for any vacuum leaks if problem continues.

Thanks for all the good ideas! I found a vaccum leak at the connection under the throttle body (not completely sure what it is for). Was definitly the source of the problem, because it doesn't go way up in RPMs now when the clutch is in. It still takes a little longer to go down in RPM than I think it should, so i'm thinking there is still a small vaccum leak...Most of the hoses on the intake have seen better days, so i'm thinking they're not sealing as well as they should. I'm going to look at the fuel trim data on my scanner to see if it indicates any more vaccum leaks...

The throttle body I installed is the bolt in kind, and the gasket for the top plate has seen better days...I'm pretty sure its not leaking, but definitly something I should replace soon. I love fixing dumb stuff like this :-? haha

you could try an iac reset too. key on engine off pump the gas a few times. i think its 3 full pumps
