tuning my lt1

im sure this has been asked but where can i dyno tune my heads cam lt1 trans am ? im in north jersey

LTb1ow 01-03-2011 04:33 PM

You have a 503 cam right?

JS should be able to take care of you without a dyno tune, he did mine and my cam is more chaotic than yours. My car idles like a champ.

If you care to wait, Bryan Herter comes to Willow Grove PA a few times a year. He's a magician when it comes to LT1s and tuned mine.

transmaro93 01-03-2011 05:31 PM

yea 2X's for Herter... hes the PCMforless guy... he did my car and couldn't be a nicer friendlier guy and I'm happy with my tune. he took quite a few pulls to get the tune correct and safe... unfortunately im a terrible driver but you can see ramair95ta's results...

hmm, i'll have to see, i have a cc306 cam. any idea of when he will return to pa im in need of a tune badly

sweetbmxrider 01-03-2011 08:14 PM

he can tune your pcm if you ship it to him. i believe he also does tunes via email. he did a base tune on transmaro's setup then dyno tuned it at a later date. he picked up 13hp i think over the base tune but that was mostly or all from a dirty maf. basically he's pretty good :)

hmmm well i have the mail order tune from him lol but its running so0o rich lol better than lean but still lol

RamAir95TA 01-04-2011 01:13 AM

Most mail-order tunes run slightly rich for safety's sake.

You can email him and ask when he will be in the area. For the most part he uses JDs Performance in Willow Grove, PA.

Just give him a call. Nice guy to speak to and from others comments, he knows his stuff. I was going to have him tune my car but I decided to go with Fran over at RPM in Delaware since I'm using the LS1 pcm with my LT1.

do you have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator? 58mm throttle body?

Good thoughts but I would recommend verifying the air/fuel ratio with a wideband before making significant changes to the fuel pressure. If you know the fuel pressure is way off per the GM recommended spec (or tuner spec) then a small tweak probably doesn't hurt. I guess you can say I'm a safety nut when it comes to adjusting things like that without the proper devices to verify the change was correct.

I agree, I thought if there was an afpr installed then it may be set at too high of a pressure. As for the 58, Brandon was having issues with his fouling out plugs before we fixed the iac path.

My AFPR was off a little which the tuner adjusted last time around for the correct pressure. Was his IAC path blocked, dirty or it was simply not functioning?

Nah the aftermarket tb's aren't drilled for the iac path. if you look at a stocker and a 58, you will see between the blades what i mean. this was causing his rear plugs to foul out. the intake has idle air paths that dump out in each runner. this also causes the infamous split BLM issue. I have links saved on my computer that took a dump.
