Starting time how much should I crank

Hey guys my OCD has me wanting to get my engine well tuned. i think its not tuned well because the first start of the day takes about 3 revolutions of the starter to create ignition. Is my engine out of timming or gunked up.
i have seafoam treatment in it now .
After the first start and when its warm it starts up with 1 or 2 revolutions .
92 rs 5.0 TBI.
I will post a video of the way it starts tommorow morning.

Yea, 2-3 revs sounds normal

thats fine, especially in the cold. with my 78 i have to pump the gas several times and turn the car over maybe 5-10 times, and depending on the choke setting i have to keep my foot on the gas o_O haha

In your case, this is not uncommon. My Nova fires up right away but won't idle on its own for 4-5 minutes, even if it's choked. Then again, I have the crossover blocked and all the cold weather stuff out of the car.

To the OP, that sounds about right.

my 86 doesnt have a choke at all, you should try to get that thing started in the winter, or in the summer for that matter

the guy i bought my 78 from said "this piece wont even stay started, idk whats wrong with it" we got the car for a steal bc the "engine as sqeaking and may need a new one" (belt was loose) and it had no choke on the carb, thats why it wouldnt stay running, give it gas for 2min in the summer and she's good to go haha

Yeah . i sprayed some barb cleaner. The throttle body is actually shiny metal now. i thought it was supposed to be black. Got a lil more power out of her. i will be buying some TB gaskets and give her a thourough cleaning. the injectors seems to be spitting fine .

2-3 cranks for a TBI is about right in the cold
