New Hood Options-What do you guys think?

Well lately I have been toying with the idea of getting a new hood for my car. I have a few paint issues and dents that I want to get fixed. The main one being the front bumper cover which has clear chipping and some bad dupli color touch up paint in areas. So I figure while the car is at the body shop getting the work done when the weather warms up why not throw a new hood in there too. I have a few options so far. VFN Sunoco Style Bolt on hood either with the center body line or not I cant decide... or an SS Hood. Leaning towards the Sunoco but I cant decide if I want the center body line or not. Thoughts?

Without, no question

def. no body line. that will look amazing!

Sunoco hood without the line always looks nice. I am also a fan of the Ultra Z hood, but that's very take it or leave it for most people.

We can get you a VFN hood, just so you know ;)

Anti_Rice_Guy 01-15-2011 09:47 PM

With the line. Otherwise the body line that is present in the nose/bumper would just stop? Definitely with the line.

I like the hood with the body lines... Gives a more finished look.

gm cowl hoods always came with the body line. its pretty much signature. go with the line, its just right. the only hood i would take without the line is the super wide cowl like alex has. but heres a better look of WITH the line

Wow. That's exactly why I voted for the line, and I figured nobody else would think that way. Nasty you never cease to surprise me.

its like the people that put the stripes going over the roof on a gm. thats a ford signature look and doesnt belong. cant argue with history.

Thats what I was thinking but the only thing is, the body line on the VFN hood is HUGE... It does give a more finished look I agree but its not as clean as I would like. Decisions, Decisions.....:-?

i think 'no line' looks better...while i can appreciate the history of 'the line', at the end of the day, i believe in building the car FOR YOU and YOU ONLY. my car looks the way i envisioned it, not what though would be most popular. if i wanted to be in the 'in crowd' id have a 4th gen with corvette rims (still looks good but played out beyond belief if you ask me)

go with your gut feeling..

Yeah, Mc74Nova can get you a better price then VFN.

If a few people buy hoods (I'm also getting a hood very soon) then we can really bring down the price in the cost of shipping the hoods.

w/o body line looks pretty sweet, got my vote

I went through the same, and ultimately decided no line. For the same reasons above actually. If VFN made the line more discreet, I would have gotten the body line. But they didn't, and it looks off to me, so I opted for the line-less. No paint, but you get the picture:
