Crazy stuff, hopefully the death and injuries are kept to a minimum.

sweetbmxrider 03-11-2011 07:26 AM

Holy ****, 8.9 is no joke

Frosty 03-11-2011 07:28 AM

Neither is a 23ft tidal wave lol. Though some place are reporting a 13ft wave, others are saying 23ft....either way it's messed up :(

JL8Jeff 03-11-2011 07:29 AM

I thought there was an 8.2 quake in China a couple of days ago as well. New Zealand a couple weeks ago, that part of the world is way too active right now.

greenformula92 03-11-2011 08:09 AM

thats cause things are moving around, remember that air port in florida where the runway wasn't pointing exactly north anymore, but when it was built it is, the plates are moving, i think i read that the magnetic plate that makes a compass work is moving like 40 miles a year

And Obama's master plan to ruin the toyota car company comes forth with a vengeance, GM will reign once and for all!!

wait,wut?

Sucks, lots of damages, but are they predicting a lot of casualties? Kinda sounds like they managed to evacuate a lot of people beforehand?

sweetbmxrider 03-11-2011 10:30 AM

There's some pics with people up on roof tops. In that one vid nasty posted, you see cars driving on the road that's about to be covered. Pretty scary stuff living so close to the ocean.

I lol'd.

Look at the power of modern infrastructure. An 8.9 earthquake and tsunami yielded relatively little damage. Compare to what happens in other countries, it looks like Japan was well prepared. I wish them the best though because that is still a terrible turn of events.

BurninrubberGT 03-11-2011 11:34 AM

i was reading somewhere that 2 nuclear plants there were having problems with their cooling and they are evacuating everyone around it

WiMiMc 03-11-2011 12:06 PM

i heard the waves are now hitting oregon and the rest of the west coast. at least them and hawaii had enough notice.

Yeah, between Lybia, the Saudi's getting rowdy and an earthquake and tsunamis, the speculators will probably run up the price of oil/gas. Isn't this time of year when they do their annual maintenance before they switch over to the non winter gas as well? :-?

Frosty 03-11-2011 01:37 PM

Another 6.6 quake just hit Japan

NastyEllEssWon 03-11-2011 02:01 PM

man thats a hell of an aftershock. i only found out about this last night after my buddy in cali called me up to mention an emergency broadcast for tsunami wave warnings in san fransisco. that couldve been hugely devastating for sure. i cant even begin to fathom taking a 8.9, then a tsunami and finish it off with a 6.6 aftershock the next day. its just....wild.

Frosty 03-11-2011 02:04 PM

Makes you realize how insignificant we are in the grand scheme of things....

LTb1ow 03-11-2011 02:05 PM
